I was watching Tyson v Danny Williams again recently and I'd forgotten how good eveybody thought Mike was looking for a couple of rounds there. Of course that's all the rounds he can manage these days and if he doesn't KO his man inside 6 minutes he's in trouble, especially if his opponent fires back a bit, but from what I remember of McBride I seriously doubt he can survive those initial rounds and is KO'ed inside 2.

Anybody read the Kevin Rooney article on fightnews, I thought it was interesting. He is not one of these nasty esque Tyson believers, he knows the guy is a faded fight who cannot fight for four rounds - but he still tips him over alot of the title holders - he only really tips Klitchsko.

Also discusses Tyson's knee injury, the guy was in alot of pain and I think the criticisms Tyson got for his performance that night was a bit harsh. I tend to agree with Rooney, Tyson showed some heart by still trying to win in desperate pain for a further 3 rounds.

I was actually watching that fight only yesterday, and Tyson just ran out of steam. I really don't see how his knee could have come into that, he wasn't limping or grimacing, in fact he really looked pretty good for 2, maybe 3 rounds. But then he completely ran out of juice and Williams, who had been holding his own pretty well just biffed him out. If he looks that good for 3 rounds, even 3 minutes tonight McBride won't know what's hit him.

I'm not saying that he didn't run out of seem, but he did definately grimace when it happend (at the end of the first) and from then on he definately wasn't throwing his punches properly. He seemed to be favouring the left hook from then on - not sure why but there was definately a balance issue.

I'm not saying that the final outcome was effected, because if Tyson hadn't KO'D Williams by the end of the third he was out, but I did think the geniune injury effected his punch power.

Its the first time Tyson and his collegues have spoken about the injury, I do definately buy the severity of the injury.

Me too Stu, I've said on several occassions that people were too quick to dismiss the knee injury - that's what got my goat so much about Danny Williams' gloating, specially of late saying Mike ducked him to fight McBride.

indeed i didnt think that would happen but i do stil think the knee was an excuse and always have.

Funny 4 people "picked" McBride after the fight was over.
