There is a thread on the current scene on this, which is fair enough, but things looked so close I thought I'd add a poll in.

I've gone for Glen through for his heart and experience (remember Tarver's had only 20-something fights) but should be very close IMO

Tarver by stoppage.

I'm rooting for Johnson, i feel that boxing has given him an hard time with some decision going the other way (screw jobs) and that he deserves his time now, another win over tarver would be great.

I like Tarver in this one.
Maybe Tarver had only 20 odd fights, but he beat Roy twice. (The first fight was a gift to Roy and I dont buy that excuse with losing weight)

I will bet on Tarver in this one.

Roy said they fight for the right to challenge him. Talk of delusional. He talks as if he were still the king of the hill.
I wish he keeps his word and does fight the winner, so losing again by ko might bring him back to the real world.
And let him rematch BH too. If he is at it runing his legacy, then might as well go all the way. Dont forget Toney. Losing to all these guys will definitely erase most of Roys achivements.

Sad that he is not just quietly enjoying his retirement. Why come back for a few more loses? Cant be for the money, as Roy managed his far better than Tyson. It has got to be the ego.

Tarver gets on my nerves.

Oh come on... I mean, Johnson took 24 rounds to finally put Clinton Woods out of the way whereas Jones, before his trip up to heavy, just walked through Clinton.

I dare even the biggest Jones sceptics to watch him against Woods and then watch the Tarver and Johnson fights and say he wasn't a shadow of his former self and that Tarver and Johnson were better fighters... no way.

His decision to come back down to 12st7lb must have had some effect because he looked so weak in the first Tarver fight and just plain done against Johnson, but before that the guy was different class.

Even though Tarver seemed to take a couple of rounds off in the first fight, it was still close. I think he'll do that bit extra to win this time around. Although, like DG said, Tarver gets on my tits, so i'll be rooting for Johnson.

Tarver V Johnson II could be the fight of the year. Their fight last year was a great fight with a Johnson decision. On my card it was 115-113 for Tarver. But hey it's boxing. I have Tarver in 10 KO nothing technical.

I hope I'm wrong but Tarver by decision. If anyone can improve on the last performance it was Tarver.

It's worth remembering that Johnson improved on his first performance against Woods to give Clinton absolute murders and hurt him badly in the 1st and 2nd rounds.

I actually disagree, I didn't think Johnson had improved vs Woods in the rematch - if anything I thought the second fight was closer than the first.

I pick Tarver on points.

With rematches I tend to be loathe to pick against the guy who won the last time, especially if it was a KO victory, unless the first fight was very close and controversial.

I can't remember much about the first fight, but it was close right? What I am curious about is why those picking Tarver this time around think he'll do the business this time around?

I am picking Tarver (in a close fight no doubt) because the first fight was close (could have gone either way or a draw) and I was left under the impression that it was Tarver who perhaps didn't give it his all (cause I geniunely think he thought he was a fair bit ahead).

For too many periods in the fight all Tarver did was coast and then stalk, in some ways he fought similar to how he did vs Jones in the first fight (a fight he legitimately lost, IMO). I just don't think Tarver will do that again.

Mind you, I had the same opinion of Eubank vs Thompson and went for Eubank in the rematch - so this theory could be all bollocks.

James Mac, although Johnson improved in the rematch versus Woods... Tarver has also shown the similar skill in beating Harding in the rematch

Not to mention Roy Jones.
