I have been researching my grandfathers boxing career and I have simply come up empty handed. I know he was a great fighter because I have pictures and clippings stating this! Thank You Box rec for easing the hurt, this is the only website that contained any infomation on my grandad Jack Trammell. I am not sure why this is but, I have old clippings where Joe Lewis refused to fight my grandpa and they were good friends. I just recovered from my moms basement a picture of Joe Lewis holding up my grandpa's hand after a boxing victory!!! not to knock Mr Lewis down but his camp didnt want to tangle with Jack why's that? because he was that damn good! But what's sucks is theres no pictures, comments or clippings to find .However my Aunt has most of them and I cant get to them because they are being protected. Therefore I am on my own search to uncover this mystery. I have some wonderful pictures and even some of the actual posters of two fights costing from 60 cents to 2.00.

I would love to share this with the world, sure as many other families who were so blessed to have a Old Timer in the family. I am still on my quest to let it be known that the 6'6 Gentle Giant I called him was awesome in his days. I would love to get ahold to some of the other boxing websites and school them a bit too. A long time ago I began this and I am not sure whom I contacted but they wanted pictures and I misplaced whom I was in contact with due to my pc crashing. For all you out there who are on this same journey don't give up and leave no stone uncovered.

I give ur Grandad Jack trammell the utter most respect for getting in the ring and fighting. that takes guts, heart and toughness. I checked his record and he seem to be a pretty good journeyman. His best win was an 8 round decision over heavyweiht contender Harry Thomas who managed to get a world titel shot against lose before losing.

UR grandad did lose to tiger jack Fox three times and Paasty Perroni. I praise ur grandad for all the hard work he did, BUT IF HE GOT INTO THE RING WITH jOE lOUIS, I DONT THINK HE WOULD HAVE LASTED ONE ROUND.

Please send to me scans of what you consider his best photo, preferably in fighting pose, and of those two posters. Check my email address. Depending on their quality, we may add them to his Wiki bio.

You mention that you have some news clips.Can you provide me with some details- or copies- and i could check whether there are any other items available.

Twan---I remember talking to you about your grandfather and I may have mentioned it before, but while I think Joe Louis was the second best heavyweight ever, I do think that he failed to fight some of the better fighters of the time, especially African-American boxers and your grandfather was one that I really feel Louis should have fought. Right now I am putting material together on a lot of boxings hard hitters for what I hope will be a book by the time I am finished and Jack Trammell is one of the fighters that I am planning to research and write about.
