Does anybody know of any boxers that are vegetarians. I know Eder Jofre was, and supposedly a few other champs were also. Anybody know of anyone?

this guy was a Vegan and was eating a very difficult to keep diet, with micro-organic food etc.
He went 12 rounds with Lewis and though he lost he gave a very gutsy performance. He was a tough guy, but very light for a guy that big.

thanks KOJOE,
that is the guy.
He got sick after that fight. Not immediately though. He went down to 185lb from his condition and quit boxing. It had nothing to do with his diet though.
Generally you wont find many heavies that do not eat meat. Meat is good for you, it helps build the muscles. However, like with anything else, it is not good to overdo it. 10oz a day or below for a heavyweight.

I think after Mavrovic retired he actually returned to his native Croatia to do some kind of organic farming. He was a real tough guy as I remember, and Lennox couldn't dent him. His name was down to fight Hasim Rahman a year later in 1999 but he developed some kind of virus that brought his weight right down as mentioned above. Oleg Maskaev took his place and knocked Rahman out of the ring.

Dont think Howard was a veggie.
The reason he made a comback was that he worked in insurance in NYC and used to eat MacD's every day for luch at his desk, he put on so much weight he had to fight again.

Lou Savarese was, then reverted back during one of his comebacks.
I'm sure I read that. Not sure if it was just a gimmick...or truth but I remember in an interview he said he was eating meat...
