Just wandering does anybody here go to events such as the Royal show and the Royal Welsh show. They are typically very good piss ups and the totty can be quite appealing.

I'll be in the Royal Welsh and I am SHOWING (note I said showing, not anything else) the families pedigree Sheep and I will be there the full week, mainly in the beer tent from 11-.....

I few of my old student commerades will be coming up, it will be an eye opener for them. Just wandering if anyone from here goes to the Royal Welsh or similar events. If you'll be there we could arrange a meet.

I generally get along to the Royal Cornwall Show to stock up on jam, sausages, scrumpy and the like. The tractors and livestock do nothing for me, I'm afraid.

Theres one in Machen 1st weekend in July..same principle...straight to the beer tent.

worked at the royal welsh a few times, dont think i can wing it this year though.

is Welsh language close enough to Scottish and Irish that you can mutually understand each other if you did not learn the others language? Just curious.


As for agriculture, I grow bees for a hobby, but it is in Germany and Switzerland. Never been to such a show in Britain. Maybe I will now that I hear such nice things about it.

I go to the New Forest show now and again.

No mate. We would not be able to understand them and vice versa.

I just thought I would ask. Seems I was mistaken that being Gaelic languages they would also be close enough to be mutually understandable.

Its not? I learned something new. But what language family is it in then?

James - I my sheep wins the aptly named (here comes the jokes) interbreed championship at the Royal Welsh - thats £1,500 in my pocket - without the price of the animal going up considerably when it gets sold.

Anyway, I'm there for the booze and the Women.

I haven't touched a drop of Alcohol since the end of the 6 nations and won't touch it again untill New Year (its getting the weight down).

Yep plenty of women at the shows, people that don't go think its all farmers in wellies.

I went to the Royal Cornwall Show was a great day!

Burnt my face in the sun though!

Alot of people dont know how far the shows have come on, its not all Chickens and there eggs!
