I have to say a tremendous showing from Esham last time out - just seen the bout on Eurosport, he showed a terrific boxing brain, picked it up when the time was right and I thought he might stick around for the judges decision - he didn't he fought very well.

I have been a little sceptical of Esham's "return to form" I always thought he would get exposed as the guy who lost in a round for the WBO title and the guy who lost to Jon Jo Irwin when he stepped it up again. I did think his current run was primarily due to good matchmaking. I was wrong, and I am sorry for that.

Tremendous show.

He looked strong at Super Bantam, I don't know what his strength would be like at 9 stone but I would give him a chance vs Harrison. He would certainly make him look silly for a fair few rounds.

Fair play to the opponent, game and decent. A good opponent for Michael Hunter next.

He did get caught by silly shots though didn`t he
Harrison I feel would walk straight through him, he does not seem to have the best of the Ingle defences.

He is classy at this level but I would think he`d get found out pretty soon at the next level up

True, a big improvement from the days of Jon Jo Irwin, I do hope that a little bit of contempt for this opponents punching power was the reason for some lapses in his defence tonight.

He had his guard up nicely for the majority of the fight, he will have to make it for 100% of the fight when he steps up (either at Feather or Super Feather).

EP was getting picked by the spainards right hand occasionaly, another more powerful fighter may hurt him,as there was a height difference (EP shorter than the spainiard) it was a good punch for the opponent when Pickering did miss with his jab. im pretty sure I heard Ingle shouting at him about it between rounds. However EP had everything else under control

Im sure though when he fights a better opponent he will have that under control, good performance and very good on his feet though.

Pickering went abroad and did a job, good on him. Shame those scumbags started throwing stuff at him afterwards but hey he's still the champ.

I don't believe Esham is quite good enough defensively to move into world class, but he deserves huge credit for carving out a fine career after those earlier setbacks. Top lad.

To come back from the Martinez disaster has shown tremendous character and anyway he was a baby when he fought the more seasoned Irwin, and punching well above his weight at that time. A good solid European-level fighter. Don't think he'll win a world title but they've got to be pushing him for another shot at least or an eliminator against a world-class oppponent.

Solid performance but definitely got hit too much by a fairly limited opponent. Esham mite be able to step up a notch when facing better opponents but unfortunately I cant see him ever beating larios,vasquez,monshipur or guzman.

perhaps a fight agianst mccullough would answer some questions.

I heard someone saying in the current scene Guzman has vacated the WBO belt, why not try get Pickering a shot for the vacant title ???

yeah but obvioulsy with wayne finally getting his rematch against larios.....if wayne loses could become a reality i guess.

That would be a good fight for him to take.

He isn`t a big puncher and at world level this is a big hindrance.
He is class, but sadly I think its not world class.

Michael Hunter could give him a real argument, Esham has the skills but Hunter I think would make it very very rough for him, maybe this is a step down for Pickering but it would make for a good fight.

An excellent performance, especially with it being in Mallon's back yard.

Despite all the talk/rumours about a fight with Hunter I heard Ingle might try to get him a fight with Vazquez.
