That's good, British heavyweight title on terresstrial TV, just a shame that neither man is really the goods in terms of world ambitions, but it's good start in introducing boxing back to terresstrial.

Good to see it back on terrestrial agreed, but imagine the maulfest this might turn out to be? They quite possible wont set the world alight for the casual fan!

Skelton WILL turn this into a maulfest. Its how he wins, either that or Danny knocks him out. Might be brutal viewing.

What happened to the Elcock V Dann fight? I've not heard anything about Elcock pulling out? Was really looking forward to this fight

Not that I'm especially interested in a super-flyweight fight in Japan, but it does show Sky have a new commitment to track down and provide good quality boxing regularly now.

Mind you, I bought the Hopkins vs Eastman fight on Selenta last time out, and Hopkins didn't come to fight, he came to run! I felt cheated out of £15.00 :(

Err.....not sure what you expecting there chief, leading champions don't generally go toe-to-toe at every given opportunity, it doesn't seem to guarantee long-term success.

No, not at all, that is fighting and that's how Bernard Hopkins fights a guy like Eastman. Howard was a tough and awkward opponent as Hopkins acknowledged before and after the fight, I don't think anyone would have expected Hopkins to walk through him, no-one could. Bernard is a great champion who adapts his activities to his opponents to beat them. It's all part of the noble art, we can't have Hagler v Hearns every time.

There's a BIG difference between elusive fighting on the back foot, and just plain running. Hopkins said that he'd looked in Eastman's eyes and he knew Eastman had come to fight. So Hopkins ran for 12 rounds flicking out a jab.

I love boxing... But when I have to pay £15.00 to watch a fight I wanna see a fight!

These guy's in professional boxing are prize fighters. They get paid (By my PPV money) to fight... If they don't wanna fight then move on and let someone who DOES wanna fight move in instead.

Some guy's like Morales, Barerra, Pacquiao, Hatton, Corrales, Castillo, Mayorga, Johnson, Calzaghe, have great pride in their fans and really wanna put on a show!

I agree Hopkins isn't the most entertaining of fighters to watch, and I wouldn't have paid £15 to watch a lot of his fights in the middle of the night. But I don't agree he "ran" from Eastman, he fought a come-forward fighter on the back-foot and won conclusively on all cards. Granted it wasn't exactly a carbon-copy of Foreman v Lyle, but that isn't Hopkins' style. It must have been pretty much what you were expecting surely?

I was expecting Eastman to make more of a fight of it... :(

Either way... I'll watch guys like Mayweather/Winky Wright/Judah because at least they put up a good show, and show great boxing skills, and they come to fight.

I don't agree that Hopkins does these... He comes to win, and more and more these days... Will do it by running away with the jab, refusing to get involved in an exchange and so on...

I'd only pay for a PPV fight with him involved again, if he was fighting Calzaghe. Because I KNOW Calzaghe won't let him get away with it.

I think hopkins fought a very clever fight, and he kept eastman negative, by landing hard enough and often enough to make it clear he would give him a good digging if he tried it on.

Eastman should have thrown caution to the wind more, Hopkins is the champ, he doesn't have to make a fight of it.

in fairness to him, he laid a pretty merciless beatdown on Trinidad.

I certainly agree with that principle, although your choice of Mayweather is a surprise to me. I've been a bit disappointed with his excitement output as he's moved up in weight, he's not exactly going into the trenches with these guys now. A great performance tonight would change all that of course, but I suspect it won't be the most entertaining fight unless Arturo can drag Floyd down to his level.

Since when was eastman a 'come forward' fighter? Eastman likes to pick his spots, he's hardly the the second coming of jake Lamotta.....
