If Robin Reid overcomes Jeff Lacy there is a distinct possibility that we might have the pleasure of Reid vs Magee II - Brian Magee vs Vitali Tszypko's EBU title fight doubles over for an IBF eliminator.

I normally delighted when Brits gets eliminator fights, but I don't think I can stand Magee vs Reid II.

Fear not, unless Robin shows a lot more activity than he did in the first Magee fight he won't be defending the IBF belt against anyone!

Was Reid and Magee that bad?

Oh no, both are the underdogs in my book. I would probably give Reid the better chance of the two.

Incidentally, I found an old tape of harrison/negus the other day and reid was on the undercard fighting Francisco Mora. Reid still looked so sharp, and dangerous back then in 2002. I wish that version of reid were fighting Lacy because all that sharpness has gone now.

I don't agree at all, he looked very very sharp against Ottke, until he was told by Hughes that he was behind on all the cards in round 5, which was a fornicating liberty as Ottke had landed about 4 shots in 5 rounds. After that he was looking for the KO because he knew he was never going to get the decision.

Magee's style made for a bad fight with Reid, I don't think Reid has slipped that much to be honest, he's not all that old for a SM anyway.

Magee is going to have a hard time getting past Tsypko

On a serious note, i'd love to see Reid beat Lacy and then get his revenge over Joe C

To be honest I think Robin would have done better basing himself in the States with a US promoter following the Calzaghe defeat. Reid was clearly a little peeved that whilst both he and Joe were promoted by Sports Network for that fight it was Joe who was being given the favoured son treatment, with FW telling is how he was going to build Joe up and make him a big star. Must be a bit of a kick in the Hampsteads when your own promoter is talking like that about your opponent ahead of a big fight. But I don't think he did himself any favours by subsequently positioning himself with Jess Harding. Personally I think his style and good looks would have been well-received over in the States and he could have made more progress at a higher level over there.

yeah, with some top US nurturing he really could have been something special.

Imagine if reid had been around fighting in america during mclellan's destruction period, that would've been an intriguing fight, with gerald's a style that suited Reid.
