Sorry if someone else has already posted about this fight but i was just watching the Tarver-Johnson rematch. I thought Johnson grew old overnight, he looked like an old man in there, he seemed to know what he wanted to do but could not sustain any attacks. On the flip side Tarver also looked vulnerable, his stamina and ability to fight consistently over the 12 rounds was brought into question, against a rather subdued and one dimensional Johnson he was allowed to fight in spurts but i had the feeling he would struggle against a come forward decent pressure fighter.

This made me feel that Clinton Woods post fight boasts may not be so absurd, if he could set a reasonable pace i could see him giving Tarver problems. Unfortunately Jim Watt annoyed me a bit last night, he apparently saw Tarver throwing "Amateurish arm punches" early on and didn't let the point rest all through the fight, it was infuriating.

On the undercard i realised it was the first time i had seen Ike Quartey fight! Give me a break i came late to the fight game and am trying to catch up 8) He looked good and his defensive moves were nice at times, i don't agree with Ian Darke when he said Quartey was chinny, i thought the opposite...he took a massive left hook and got up despite being groggy and fought through a haze. The fact he got up at all says to me he is anything but chinny, that was just the product of a bad defence. Getting caught by shots (which he was) is bad defence in my book, if he was chinny he would have been dropping at anything which he wasn't. That is just my view on it.

to be honest i had no interest in this fight.i found it very boring and lost interest after the 1st 3 rounds.surpisingly tarver was letting his hands go with 4-5 punch combo`s with johnson doing very little other than pawing with a weak jab over tarvers southpaw right.these are just 2 fighters that just dont interest me.

Johnsons corner work was terrible. All they kept telling him was to walk Tarver down, of course Johnson walked forward and Tarver nailed 4 or 5 shots while he was coming in and moved away when Johnson got there. Then around the fifth they had the sense to tell Johnson not to walk forward but cut off Tarver in corners by walking across him. Then from about the 7th on the only advice I could hear them shouting was "You gotta put him down Glen!"

There was no strategy at all there other than walk forward and apply pressure but you have to do something with the pressure.
