Last time people accused him over looking Wayne by signing a deal (which never happend) to fight Guzman.

Sounds like he already has his next foe lined up, although the date is a long way off.

It isn't unusual for promoters to have 2 or 3 fights lined up for a boxer, it's not over looking his next opponent it just makes good business to keep options on other fighters.

If Larios loses then the fights won't happen but if he wins then he's already got his next fight sorted and can just concentrate on preparing for his next fight instead of worrying about who he's going to fight and what contracts are going to be offered.

I appreciate, but alot of people blamed this for the closeness (despite the scorecards) of the first match - Guzman was lined up, but something went wrong.

I have to say, well done to Cheryl McCullough and the team for getting the rematch - it was a close hard fight, no rematch clause, not ordered and Wayne isn't a mandatory. I thought Larios would run a million miles from this fight.

It depends wether or not the boxer knows he's got another fight lined up, a lot of promoters don't tell them so it doesn't cause a distraction but some fighters like to know everything which sometimes does distract them.
I can't comment on Larios because I don't know what personality he's got but with somebody like Johnny Nelson it wouldn't matter if he knew his next 10 opponents he'd still concentrate on the job in front of him but with some fighters like Scott Harrison it has the reverse effect and he tries too hard to win and becomes untidy and forgets his tactics.

By the way allegedly usually has 5 fighters lined up for Hatton's next fight and early indication is that M'Baye, Harris (before what happened last night), Corrales and Joshua Clottey have all been in talks with Warren about being Hatton's next opponent, my money's on M'Baye probably in early October.

My money is on Mbaye aswell, providing of course he is successful in his appearance here next month.

M'Baye's points loss to Harris isn't looking too good all of a sudden, but he'd still make an acceptable challenger for Ricky. All this talk of mass-talent at 140lb, but with Gatti, Tszyu and Harris all losing this month it's thinned the talent down a bit unfortunately.

As I said in the other thread, huge gap between the champions and the challengers, red hot as far as the champions are concerned (well three of them and if Tszyu fights Maussa then four of them again) but below them is poor. Witter's win (in many ways unconvincing) over N'dou makes him clearly the best "challenger" out there.

That was my arguement with James of Leija, if Leija came back tommorow he would be back in the world title hunt.
