Mike Tyson trainer Jeff Fenech reportedly headed to Phoenix today for negotiations involving a four-round tournament against the likes of Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe. "Mike does not want to go out of boxing as a loser against Kevin McBride," Fenech said told Aussie boxing writer Grantlee Kieza. "He is one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time and is still explosive for four rounds. He doesn't want to compete in ten-round fights because after 20 years as a big-name fighter it is hard to keep backing up in the gym."

And he's got to work on his fitness if he's going to last four rounds.

I actually would not mind this too much, at least they would not be trying to sell the public into beleiving he was on his way to a title shot, also as long as this is not a pay to watch thing then it would definetely have me tuning in to watch.

A while back I made a joke saying that if Tyson keeps fighting to pay his bills and alear his debts, his next foe is likely to be Butterbean. But I intended it as a joke. Now with this 4 rder thingy, it may just become reality.
It would be pathetic if Tyson loses to Bean too. He should retire. But he just cannot do it with all those debts. Who would have thought in the 80s that Tyson will sink this low to fight in 4 rders? IF you told someone this back then you would have been certified as insane. But sometimes reality is more weird than delusions. Go figure. :(

Oh this is terrible, so now Mike is going to be fighting butterbean, I joked about it on maxboxing recently, and now it looks like happening.

Butterbean will probably beat him.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean whilst in his hey-day of the mid eighties I always knew he would lose eventually but it is kind of strange looking at his recent fight results.

yes, looking at your list Kevin McBride definitely deserves a spot in there. The result was ver unlikely. Williams might have deserved it too, but the Tyson foot breaking precludes it. IT was genuine injury and it did affect the result. Freak injuries dont count. But freak resulty without injury do deserve a place on your list.

As to your point that Tyson was bound to lose eventually, I guess that is normal for everyone eventually. But losing to Lewis or Holyfield is one thing, losing to McBride is another. Even the loss to Buster Douglas has some explanations. McBride doesnt. Though again, that Douglas fight is borderline. Maybe it should be in there. But at least Douglas did beat a few quality guys so it is not as clear cut.

As for Butterbean, yes, if he catches Tyson with a power punch, Mike is history. He cant take 400lb of blubber smack in his face at this age.
Tyson is just showing how mentally screwed up he is: he said he will become missionary, then good will ambassador to Africa. Now he changed his mind (only 3 weeks later) and says he will be a 4 rounder. Who knows what he decided next month??

A 2-rounder probably, with 2 minute rounds. To be honest the idea of a "legends" tournament, probably to be staged in some boxing-backwater US state, was bound to come up sooner or later now Tyson is all washed up as a "regular" boxer. There are just too many old "name" heavies lurking about who refuse to go away that with Tyson now on the market some budding entrepreneur couldn't resist. Still, might be worth watching - Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Mercer, Moorer, Tubbs, plus some other US heavies we'd forgotten that we'd forgotten about.

With Mayweather-Gatti and then this sort of news, only Boxing can thrill and then disgust me in the space of a week

They should pick up Foreman, Moorer and Hide and should all box daily at the Octoberfest in Munich vs these Circusboxers.....

Hide will do it if he can wear a protective helmet.

A little harsh on Moorer, his stamina is okay.

Tyson can't even manage 4 rounds these days.
