Apparently Williams is confident after watching K1 video

Over at britishboxing Williams is saying he is confident after seeing Skelton KO'd in a K1 fight on tape.
Well guess what, Skelton is no doubt confident after seeing him pinged around the ring like a basketball by Samil San and Klitschko.
I really hope Skelton knocks him clean out. I'm sick of hearing how good Williams is he is average at best and has showed that time and time again.

I tell you 2 things I am fed up with hearing from Team Williams:
a. How he always leaves his best form in the gym, and
b. Why it makes sense for him to come into fights weighing 19st.

True and True. Last chance saloon for him

I totally agree.
I'd love to see him in the gym I doubt he's the second coming of Ali in training, I fail to see how he can look any better behind closed doors.
Lets hope its all put to bed with a Skelton KO in a couple weeks otherwise we'll have team Williams clammering for a rematch with Klitschko or a crack at Ruiz (who'd knock him the fornicate out by the way).

I don't dispute that a fighter can look better behind close doors, I've seen plenty of amateurs who have just let the occasion get to them and fight like crabs. Williams could be like that.
However, I CANNOT see (and this is what I think you were getting at) is how a 19 stone fighter, with such a small frame, can look much better than he does in the gym. It is impossible for him to be super speedy.

Spot on Stu, at 19 stone there's not a lot more he can do than plod forward throwing a hanful of shots a round.
Lets see if he's good to his word and comes in light for this fight.
My bet is the call of the KFC will get the better of him and he'll come in like a beached whale again.

One thing about saying he's watched him get Ko'd in K1, is he has to remember that K1 is a very tough sport, look at Mercer he lasted about 30 seconds, and he always had a good chin, Vince Phillips said he would never get involved with K1 again after 1 bout.
Most of the top fighters in K1 have been stopped somewhen in there career

You do get the impression Williams isn't much of a trainer. What did he say the other day? Something about getting so serious for the Skelton he was cutting out the pies and cakes or something?

On the contrary, its obvious McDonnell has him fit come fight time. The amount of punishment and recoveries he made against Klitschko tell that story. But his diet is absolutely shocking which leads to that extra bulk.
Williams reminds me of the heavyweights of the 80s - although not as good obviously but the blatant disregard for diet and shape.
If he had a nutritionist on board making sure he doest eat crap and the training McDonnell puts him through he'd have a sculpted physique within a few months.

Williams did very well in the rowing charity thing didn't he?
I believe DW trains extremely hard under JimmyMac - The recovery and finish against Tyson & the survival against Vitali proved that.
I think he mentally justifies all the junk food he empties into his body because he feels he trains harder than most other boxers. Which of course is deluded.

I really fancy Skeltons chances in this fight, i think Willaims will underestimate Skelton & Skelton will come through for the win.

It never fails to amaze me how few boxers seem to use professional nutritional advice. Recently Hatton's camp made a big splash about bringing in a nutritionist to stop him bulking up between fights etc etc.
I can't think of any other sport where nutrition is not key. An old friend of mine is working closely with a League 1 football team right now and, even at that lower level it is seen as key.
Boxers seem to think that because they train so hard they can eat what they like and it does not matter where the calories come from. But the truth remains "junk in, junk out"

Looks like he's already bulking up.

Christ, that's a lot of weight to put on in 3 weeks. I believe Hatton when he says that he just blows up naturally, but he can't be doing himself any favours.
He's a phenomenom, though. His training camps must be murder. I think he must have inherited a lot of natural stamina from his dad.

Williams does train hard but I believe it's sporadic and he likes his home comforts. Remember when he lost to Klitschko he was dying to tuck into the bakewell tart his missus had brought him but couldn't because his mouth was too sore.
I've got a feeling Danny's not going to make it through this one.

Danny, by his own admission, is a chochoholic, he's destined to be a very very fat man when he retires, if he weighs in over 260 lbs when in full training, what is he going to weigh when he's sitting around eating himself stupid?
No matter how fit you are, weighing 270 lbs can hardly help, more weight to move around, more intertia to overcome, reduction of mobility and speed Danny has naturally fast hands, but he would no doubt be much quicker without carrying 20 lbs of excess weight around.
You can be fat and fit, no doubt about that, but fast and fit, not so easily done.

Imagine what he gets through on a trip to McDonalds.
I reckon 4 big macs, 2 large fries, large coke, mcflurry, apple pie.

With reference to the title of this thread, wasn't Danny 'crying with joy' after watching tapes of Klitchsko? A very short lived epiphany as it turns out.
I make Danny favourite to win, but I don't think seeing tapes of Skelton in K-1 is relevant, all he needs to do is watch tapes of him in his recent fights.

Evening fellas. With reference to Ricky Hatton blowing up between fights I read on another boxing site that he started training camp for the Tsyzu fight at 178lbs. That sort of repeated weight loss and gain is bound to shorten his career.

Apologies for my poor grammer. 17 years of state education wasn't wasted on me.
I know nothing.
