Ouma v Karmazin

Did I imagine it or has this fight been pencilled in for Sky Sports 1 on Friday night? That's not bad, 1-day delay. If anyone wants to talk about the result before seeing it then just put it on here. Should be a nice fight although you've got to favour the super fit Ouma.

I have to go back and watch the Jantuah (sp?) fight. I know I've got it on tape but I'm fucked if I can remember much about it, or Ouma.

He looked decent enough against Jantuah but Karmazin is much better schooled and will not offer Ouma as much.

I would make this a very even fight to pick, and at a push I`d go for Karmazin to nick it on points.

I'd be amazed if Karmazin won, Ouma seems to stay so fresh all night long. But it should be a solid enough match up.

No you didn't imagine it. :TU:

I think Ouma will win by decision, about 8 rounds to 4, perhaps a little closer on a card or too. Karmazin won a close one with Keith Holmes, but I'd like to think there is a big difference from Ouma to Holmes....

Before we really label Ouma in the P4P bracket lets not forget he didn't look super comfortable against Verno Phillips. Phillips is a decent fighter but on his last shown (vs Quartey) I would favour Karmazin to beat him.

I favour Ouma obviously, but it wouldn't be a massive shock if Karmazin won.

Ouma seems to start slow, he was caught with a couple of hard shots in the first couple of rounds against Janatuh, and he does have a 1st round KO loss on his record, so maybe he needs a few rounds to warm up.
I'm not wholly convinced on Ouma, will find out for sure when he faces Karmazan who starts quite quickly, so the first few rounds will be interesting. I have not seen that much of Karmazan , not that surprising as he's hardly been that active in the last couple of years, but on what i've heard he's one of the top light-middles, very differcult to beat.

I'll probaly go for Ouma, but as others have said i wouldn't be completly surprised if he lost.

There is a tendency to over-rate American based fighters a little too much.

The east Europeans are teak tough and well schooled, their style may not always grab the attention but they can be very effective.

Karmazan may be close to his best now ( maybe a little passed it) but Ouma will start the favourite obviously because he has gained something of a reputation, but I will stick my neck out and favour Karmasan.

I`m just not truly convinced with Ouma, this fight will clear the doubts up one way or the other

I'm really surprised by the way the bookies are seeing this fight. They are making Karmazin a 4/1 underdog.
I know he was lacklustre in his last fight but this is a must win fight for him.
It's interesting that a lot of posters think it could be very close.

Personally, I really like his chances of causing an upset here.

In Ouma I see a quality that not all that many fighters have - the ability to absorb physical pressure from an opponent and not show any real signs of fatigue. Floyd Mayweather is probably the finest example of this today.

Of course Ouma may lack in other areas, but in a fight that could all come down to respective workrate over 12 rounds I don't see Karmazin matching him.

This is a top quality matchup. For me its on a knife edge.

Ouma could outbox him, but Karmazin is world class.

This could be better than the Hopkins - Taylor fight.

What a treat.

Looks like I'm spending the weekend at Grham Brett's house, so i'll watch both on SKY.

not sure if Ouma has the KO power to keep the big russkie off him...can see him flitting about trying to land 2-3-4 punches...if he can do it he wins...but if Karmazin can just walk through Ouma`s punches..he could be in shit street.

But will he get the verdict over there?? :-?

I'm not sold on Ouma (in the P4P stakes that some people rank him as) however lets not overate Karmazin based on the David Walker fight. Remember he did legitimately lost to Castillejo, who is okay but hardly a fantastic champion.

I think Ouma is underrated by most and Karmazin I think (judging by his fight with Holmes) will be dominated if Ouma concentrates on body shots early as Karmazin can be hurt there and has somewhat of a straight-up style.
I can see Ouma's combinations downstairs getting to Roman and keeping him gun-shy and Ouma will get to him late on.

Ive seen Ouma badly hurt by a Welterweight he was almost out.

I reckon there could be an upset here.

Well if you're only as good as your last fight then you have to say Ouma is pretty solid. He was having fun with Jantuah for the most part.

He did look pretty good in the middle and late rounds , seemed to be enjoying himself, maybe he should have tried harder for the stoppage as Jantuah looked pretty tired at the end.

Still have to say that i think Ouma needs a couple of rounds to get going, he has been stopped early before, and also i don't know if his punching power is enough to hold Karmazan off all night.

think its going to be a tight points win for Ouma,

Ouma easily. People are underestimating the class of this guy.

Couldn't it easily be that Karmazin's punching power isn't enough to hold Ouma off? I don't think we're dealing with a chinny champion here at all.

Don't forget Ouma was wacked out inside a round a few years back, so he aint bullet proof.
