Anybody know the history of this apparent war of words between fightnews and I assume its the Ring Magazine. There was a sly little scathing attack on them by Fightnews with regard to their championship belt (it just says a magazine, but I assume it is The ring).

Actually in this instance I think Fightnews are right, just what has Vitali done to win that title - it is supposed to be for partially unified champions.

Here is the attack.

There is some talk that Vitali will walk away from the WBC belt, opting to keep only a belt awarded by a U.S. magazine. However, the magazine's bias against the lower weight divisions - no champions are listed below the lightweight division, except for one fighter who has left the division - lack of enforcement ability and toothless regulations make that option less legitimate on the world stage. The Klitschko's are beginning to piss me off now spending more time in court and avoiding any type of challenge.

I do think the ring was giving out there Heavyweight title to Vitali too soon though as no one has proved whos the best.

True with Vitali. If and when he's fit again, he's said he doesn't want a mandatory ie. Rachman or Barrett first, but someone in the Kirk Johnson frame.

I'm more sympathetic with the other one, who may be going to far with a lawsuit, but he is the highest ranked IBF contender, and surely can't be leapfrogged by the likes of Lyakovich for an eliminator.

Klitschko needs to fight a live body - what exactly is he scared of?

His title reign so far is a joke. 3 title wins over grossly overweight opponents and he wants another blob for his fourth fight?

I dont see how anyone can call him the #1 heavyweight if he pulls this stunt. The other champs have all fought tougher competition.

Wladimir tried to stop DaVarryl Williamson fighting against Byrd because he beat Williamson.
Williamson had Wladimir down early and although Klitschko was leading on the cards he was starting to get ragged and was lucky the cut occurred or it could have been another rough night for him.
It says a lot to me that Wladimir was unwilling to give Williamson a rematch and went to the courts

Exactly, Wlad should have given Williamson the rematch he asked for, then we wouldn't have had to worry about the courts. I'm getting heartily sick of both Klitschko's, to be honest. They could get a lot closer to their ambition of both holding belts if they actually fought.

The rest of the Ring belt holders are the legit champions, although who holds their light heavyweight title? They lost my respect right from the beginnning for what they said they were wanting to do by making the alphabet soup titles the joke they are, but then Ring just gave the belt to Vitali based on his loss, which is no better than the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, or any other bogus belt!
