If they fight today on a seniors tour today?
Or if they fought each other in real time during there carreers?
Or if they fought each other in their personal prime?

I think they may be different answers to those three questions.

prime vs prime

if they fought now it would be a draw. holmes would jab foreman early, and foreman would land a copuple clubs to holmes head, then in the 8th both fighters would collapse and have a heart attack.

young holmes jabs and moves, frustrates george and beats him by late round knockout or UD.

if it is the old guys george knocks him out because both have great jabs, but george takes a better shot in old age, he throws a better shot, and larry can't run from him.

then they eat a hamburger fresh off the george foreman grill.

Watching the Ali fight, I don't see any one else but Ali surviving what he went through. It was hell, and Ali took many a clean shots to the head. Too many.

Larry would have a good chance. He had a great jab, great chin, great movement, great heart, and great speed, all of which you need to beat George. But Foreman had a way of reducing great fighters. He was crude, but he was just so powerfull.

If Larry was to win it would be like the Ali fight, not the Jimmy Young fight (that was a weird fight. You guys read Foreman's bio on that fight and what happend afterwards? Weird stuff man, worth the read.) But it would be hell for Larry and along the way he would be in constant danger adn would take tremedous punishment.

THe 90's version of them would be a win for Foreman. Larry still had the jab, and a great deal of ring general ship, but Foreman had the power, a hell of a jab himself, a granite chin, and massive size.

The 90's version of Larry was not going to be on his toes for 12 rounds. He often laid on the ropes adn tried to counter punch (against mercer, Holyfield, McCall). With his legs gone, or not what they used to be, Larry would be in trouble against Foreman. Big George would get to him late and win it.

Geesh!! :( What is this 90's version crap about Holmes & Foreman? 90's version of what? What are you talking about? A boxing match or a game of shuffle board at the nursing home? Nobody would watch or cares about a nursing home brawl between these two now!!! Only the aide who would have to make sure their walkers didn't get tangled during the fight, and would have to change their diapers after the fight....gives a hoot about this one.

YOu do realize that in the 90's Holmes was in the top five at one point with a win over top contender Ray Mercer. And Foreman was THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD

Hey Hey! TIME OUT! Ya gotta lighten up on the seasoned citzenry of boxing! I'm standing up for the ancient and decrepit right here and right now! If I don't who will? The seniors tour could still rustle up some money. Julio Chavez is on tour and coming to your city soon...will you be there? I think he's opening for the Stones.

Larry Holmes has been anything since the 80's, I don't care who he beat. Big George did win the title, but who did he beat? Some southpaw freak show, who was never anything and was made to order for Big George. I called that KO a year before they met, but that doesn't make a Foreman/Holmes match anything any serious boxing fan wants to see. :box: :box:

Are you under the impression we are calling for Holmes and Foreman to come out of retirement and fight?

And unless you slept through the 90's both Holmes and Foreman were factors in the heavyweight division.

BTW Michael Moorer was not a freak show. What is with you and a lack of respect? :-?

Holmes apparently came close to beating Oliver McCall on the judges scorecards but I have never watched the fight itself.

Holmes had everything to outbox Foreman and he was enough durabable to withstand George's power. Larry moved better, he was faster and more polished technically, he had a much better jab and more diverse arsenal overall. In addition to that, Holmes could both box and brawl. After Foreman was hoaxed by Ali and schooled by Young, it hard to pick him over Holmes.

Holmes by UD or late TKO.

:TU: Well said. The great Larry Holmes is getting much more appreciated over time.

You can easily pick certain fights and say that there is no way either would win.

Watch Foreman vs Frazier or Norton and you would think he would destroy Holmes.
Watch him against Jimmy Young and you would think no way.

Watch Holmes in many fights and you can easily see him out boxing Foreman.
Watch him caught against Shavers and Snipes and you think he would never survive Foreman.
