Had he cut himself shaving or something - on both sides of his neck?

He was like that on pictures on FW's site when they had shots of him going to America to watch the Gatti- Mayweather bout.

I read in boxing monthly (July 2005 issue) that he came down from 13 to 10 stone to fight Tszyu, n thats a helluva lot to shed; as far as ricky's "shaving cuts" are concerned, i think he had acne?

He needs a bit of bulk to carry the Super Lightweight, Junior Welterweight and Light Welterweight titles.

Hatton started training camp for the Tszyu fight at 13st, coming down to 10st for the fight, which is a great deal of weight. Remember, Hatton is only 5ft 7in tall.
If he did not have Kerry Kayes in his team, I do not think he would be able to shed so much weight. Kayes is a marvelous part of team Hatton, he knows nutrition inside-out, and knows about lifting weights etc.
Ricky looked the best he ever has when he fought Kostya. Credit must go to Kerry Kayes. I wonder how Ricky lifts so much weights, yet still makes 140lbs? The muscle definiton was brilliant for the last fight.
Anyone know how someone can be that big and weigh 140lbs?

Its not that hard. Muscles can make you appear bigger and heavier than you actually are. Edward Norton for example in American History X looked like he had bulked up and looked strong yet he was only weighting about 135lbs. Check out 160lb bodybuilders and they look a lot heavier than they actually are.

He's not put as much weight on as De La Hoya - the only way he'll make Welterweight again is if he cuts his legs off (and his 4 chins).

Does anyone know how much he lifts ; e.g. bench press?

With regards to how much Hatton can bench press, I do not know, but I bet it's good, whatever it is, especially when you have someone like Kerry Kayes in your team, helping you.
I know that for the Tszyu fight, Hatton best leg pressing was 20st, double his bodyweight. See, this what I mean: How can someone leg press that much, lift a heavy weight like that, and still be so light.
I would really like to know how Ricky balances the cardiovascular training and the weight lifting? Any suggestions on how it's done?

Without wanting to sound like a tw@t, leg pressing 20st is good but not huge. Squatting 20 stone is a good weight for someone that size, but leg pressing it isn't good for an athlete unless he's doing loads of reps
But the pictures I saw looked like he had plenty more plates on than that anyways.
If you do the level of cardio work hatton does then he's not going to be putting a lot of muscle on. And I get the impression that the weights work is there to augment the fitness.

20st isn't very impressive at all for a leg press... Maybe I just naturally have strong legs but I was leg pressing 300lbs (21st 6lbs) within 5 months of weight training and I was only 140lbs at the time. I'm not exactly strong either.
If i recall correctly, Hatton does alot of road work in the weeks before a fight which should burn off any fat and excess muscle by the time of the weigh in
I also seem to remember that I saw Hatton on the cover of a Muscle & Fitness magazine last year which goes into more detail his routines

Don't mean to take this too far off topic but does someone have a picture/description of a leg press. I know there are lots of different leg exercises you can do in the gym and I don't know which one this is.
I weigh just over 140 but moving anything in anyway that is over 20st sounds very difficult.

worth remembering that your legs lift your bodyweight everytime you stand up, so if you are 10stone guy you do the equivalent of a 10stone legs press everytime you stand up.....

Ricky always piles on the pounds, in between fights.
He is an Endomorph, so he is prone to weight gain.

Thanks for the information and picture Knockout.
I had never thought of it like that.

If he isn't careful putting on too much weight could really hurt him if he plans to fight at 140...eventually it could catch up to him physcially. I'm just glad that cuts hasn't been a problem during the last several fights...after the first time I saw him that was my concern!

135lb? Oh do get a grip, he weighed at least 190-200 in that film. He probably weighed 160 in Fight Club, never mind American History X.
Anyone know what hattonb weighed at fight time vs Tszyu? 155?
