His "warm-up" for Lacy will apparently be against American Scott Pemberton on 9th September.

He has been on Five a few times, from what i can remember he likes to duke it out toe to toe, i think i saw him out on his feet in one fight nad then somehow win....is this correct?

Pemberton isn't a bad fighter, he had a right war with Sheika twice, and can box a bit as well as brawl.

he is also 38, what money this fight happens then Lacy doesnt happen for whatever reasons then Joe is left waiting again for a decent "unification" bout.

It would certainly be an acceptable match. Pemberton is 38 but he's not an old fighter. He'd be there to win from the off.

I'll deffo watch this one and it'll be on ITV possibly with Amir's next fight cos they said he'll be fighting in Sept.

Fair test. I like this as a live bout, plus Pemberton's recognised in the US which raises profile for the Lacy bout...

Calzaghe-Pemberton would be an exciting fight and should keep Calzaghe sharp as he would have to be up for it as Pembertons not a bad fighter. But he would still be left searching for them big defining fights. I just hope a Pemberton fight doesnt jepoardise a Calzaghe-Lacy fight

Amir was on North West news last night confirming that he has a fight scheduled for Sept 10th with an unamed opp.

I think we can more or less accept the fact Calzaghe is never going to have this "defining fight" so at least we can take some pleasure from seeing him slug it out with the always game Pemberton. Both of his fights with Sheika are classics in my eyes, toe to toe battles with knockdowns and plenty of drama.

I've only seen one of them so far - think it was the first - but it was pretty damn good. Certainly agree that Pemberton is game. Also, this isn't worthy of its own thread, and is slightly Pemberton related, so...
A couple of titles, and, WTF are they?
Pemberton's EBA title he fought for a few times. England, New England? East-side? Defunct now?
And one of Eastman's ex's - the CBA - he fought for this 3 times in '99. Some vaguely dodgy fake Euro title? he fought a Russian a Georgian and A belgian. As you do.

Hmm. BBC have it as Pemberton-Calzaghe, and they are more pondering and nervous and audrey.

Pemberton is ok but its another easy win for Calzaghe - why is he not chasing Kessler thats the fight we all want to see? The guy is a joke. No way he fights Lacy if he gets by Reid, I just dont see it happening he's been one fight away from a unification fight for 8 years!
Lets hope they put Khan in with a guy more his own size this time, fighting super feathers at 140 is going to teach him nothing.

Come on give Khan a break, he would've learnt something from his first fight even it was what its like in the pro game - never waste an oppotunity to learn he even said he was going to sit down and watch the video.
You could see the nerves in Khan, he will learn how to deal with that from fights like this - obvioulsy we want to see him progress at the right pace.

Looks like Calzaghe will have to find another warm up opponent.
'Australia's Danny Green has announced he will fight No.1 World Boxing Council super middleweight contender Scott Pemberton in Perth in late October.
Green said the bout would likely be a world title eliminator.
Green, who has lost two WBC world title bouts to German Markus Beyer said he expected the fight with Pemberton to be even tougher than those two contests.
Pemberton has a record of 29 wins, three losses and one draw.
Green was last ranked at No.3 by the WBC, but is now expected to go to No.2 after the incumbent Christian Sanavia lost a fight last weekend.
Green said a fight with his domestic arch-rival Anthony Mundine will still happen, but Pemberton is his top priority at the moment'
