I was in a pub quiz today and a boxing question came up in the context of amir kahn which was: who was the last british boxer to go from olympic success to become world champion.
My thinking was thus:-
Harrison won the WBF but thats not a real title
Woodhall won his title for the first time in 1998 and in the context of Kahn a bronz medle would be olympic success
Lennox Lewis won his meddle for Canada and didn't start his last spell as world champion untill 1997
I was then told I was rong and the answer was lennox lewis. I can't help but feel I was robbed

You could still argue the case that Harrison was the answer as the WBF is also a "World title" :)

Hey, don't be talking the p*ss out of the WBF belt. That belt has been proudly held by many of the legends of heavyweight history, men like Jimmy Thunder, Johnny Nelson, Adilson Rodriques, Joe Bugner, Joe Hipp, Rob Calloway......

I got robbed on a boxing question in a tiebreak for 1st prize in a pub quiz once...the question was 'what is boxing's lightest weight division'. I piped up with straweight, knowing that I could be saying mini-flyweight or minimumweight too. Anyway, turned out the right answer was light flyweight. Trouble is there was only so much I could say to the quizmaster without looking like a bad loser and the biggest pedant in the world. Annoying though.....always the bloody same when you know a lot about something in a pub quiz - do you go with what you know is right or what answer you think the quizmaster is looking for.

I actually checked that when he asked the question I said "do you mean big 3 world title" to which he said "what" thats when I should have known he wanted me to say Lennox Lewis.
I was not well disposed to him anyway after he had started off by making a racist joke

Robin Reid was a bronze medallist at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and he won the WBC Super Middleweight title in 1996.

it depends on what you mean by success.......gold,silver & bronze & legit world belt (ie WBC,WBA,IBF,WBO) then yes i bet the last was robin reid
edit.......this is wrong.....woodhall was the last..i think
