I've seen limited footage of Satterfield but from what I've seen I would have to say the bigger, harder punching Shavers wins this.

I've seen some Satterfield on film, hard puncher...but I always thought he was a light heavyweight...Have to give the edge to Shavers, a full fledged heavyweight and one of the hardest punchers ever...Satterfield wasn't a slick defensive fighter (based on what I saw)...he looked hitable...but, I suppose he could get lucky and land on Shavers first...

..satterfield could box a little when he wanted to, but usually he wanted to get out on the town early...and also knew when he wasn't in condition for more than a few rounds.

he and shavers are similar....very dangerous early....fade as the rounds go on. satterfield was dynamite....but i think...as already said...shavers.....just on the basis that he was a big full fledged heavyweight and satterfield at his heaviest was no bigger than 185..and more often at 180....and spent the earlier part of his career as a light heavy.

I'd would have to give the advantage to Shavers as I think he had a little better chin, but I would say that it would mainly just be a case of who landed first as both could knock people unconcious with one shot!

I'd go for Shavers... people are always saying Shavers didn't have a great chin but I think his problame was more stamina related... the 1st round defeat to Quarry shouldn't be held up as proving Earnie had a weak chin. It would be a short but wild fight and I see Earnie winning by KO in about 2 rounds. Satterfield was probably at his best as a Lightheavy imo... :box:
