Audley to face Wiggins

Audley Harrison is to face Robert Wiggins on August the 18th.

not the worst opponent, should still come with some ambition.

I think its a decent enough match for him to shake off a bit more rust. He said he'll step it up by the end of the year and this is a step towards that.
No doubt he'll still get a bashing for it anyway.

I was waiting for your comments Bubi, I don't think Wiggins is the worst opponent he could have faced, he is durable and will come to fight.
Audley has been out of the ring for a while, 1 fight in a year, so needs a fight like this.
I admit Harrison should be ahead of where he is now, but if by the end of the year, he's in against a Brock or a Peters then i won't be moaning

he should at least fight 2nd or 3rd class Europeans like Bonin or Hersisia. But don´t forget: Francis is still the best "name" in his record. And a nobody like Mr. Wiggins (Isn´t it the guy from "Magnum"?) is a joke. He just had an easy "comeback" fight.......

A bit off topic, but Kevin Johnson that was the last person that beat Wiggins has a pretty decent record, could be one to watch.

Loosing on an SD to barret suggests good form and he has only been KOed once. So it could be a far worse fight as long as he is active following that fight and gets a couple in before the end of the year although he is 36.

I dont care if he was off balance, Okello is naff.Sam Peter will absolutely murder Sinan.

What has this to do with your idol, Mr.Harrison?
He will never fight opponents who can punch......
Compare Sam with Harrison who had the same amateur level, maybe Sinan was a little better.....
Sam held the EBU title, demolishing Williams, a guy Harrison is scared of.......
Sam now fights for a WBC #1 spot. A posotion Harrison wont´t reach in his wildes dreams.......
Gomez, Krasniqi, Bakhtov, Clay-Bey, Okhello: Fighters who are stronger than any guy Harrison fought. i doubt he will fight such opponents. they can punch hard and beat Harrison easily.

Audley already beat Bonin.

Why is Harrison scared of Williams? That is just ridiculous.
The reason they havent fought is because Allegedly has made it nigh on impossible for Harrison to face any of his fighters - in fact in most peoples opinions he deliberately scuppered the negotiations for Skelton v Harrison to rub Harrison up the wrong way.
So as long as Williams fights for Warren (which may not be much longer) then they cant fight.
I also doubt very much ESPN or any of the american networks who are going to be broadcasting Harrison fights would want to see him fight Williams.

Whether you call it afraid, or call it not ready, either way Audley hasn't been interested in fighting anyone dangerous since his pro career began. Most people who ask me about him assume he's retired.

With regards to Audley being scared of Williams
, when Audley and Williams were both on the BBC and Danny was the British champion, Audley said he wanted to fight for the British title in the next 6 months, 1 month later and Danny had signed with allegedly.
Wiggins pushed Williamson and Barrett close in 2003 and hes a step up from Robert Davis IMO, its a good momentum building fight to back up the Davis win.
The main thing is that he his fighting regularly against recognised opponents (in the US anyway) and if he has fights in October and December as he has planned to, against slight steps up in opposition, then it sets him up nicely for some BIG fights in 2006.
Hopefully he should have shaken most of the ring rust off in his last fight, so I'm hoping for him to address some of the issues from the last fight. If Wiggins is as cagey as Davis was then hopefully Audley will initiate more attacks and improve on his overall workrate.
A nice spectacular KO in the first half of the fight would be nice, on top of a good alround polished performance.

I've seen Wiggins before he's alright but was never going anywhere at his peak. I suspect Williamson would have KO'd this guy had he not got his jaw broke.

I'm just as determined as all the Audley haters are.
Audleys predominantly a counterpuncher, so his work rate is very often proportional to his opponents.
