Seems like Thomas Damnguard is going to be taking on Oktay Urkal, I would assume the Urkal's EBU title is on the line and maybe Damnguard's high WBA(?) ranking.

A good fight for Urkal at this stage of his career, I still feel very sorry for him that he didn't get the verdict vs Harris he should have alot more recognition than he has stateside.

A tough fight this, I think Urkal's extra experience might be the key. I don't think Damnguard has ever done quite enough to justify his lofty ranking (despite being an excellent fighter). I mean, who exactly has he beaten?

Its a tough one to call though, Urkal I think is definately starting to slow down and perhaps Damnguard will be too strong.

On the fence, I respect both so not even sure who I will be wanting to win.

The fight in Germany will be Damgaards highest purse of his career and its considable higher then what he have gotten in the fight vs Rivera for the WBA title.

Damgaard looked really good in his comeback fight vs Martinez, it was like he was in the "old" days (IMO he topped vs Rahliou) but in his latest fight vs a kenyan it was back to usual.

But Urkal has also slipped a bit but I still think he will be a solid favorite to win the fight.

Small fact: Damgaard has been rated for 277 weeks by the ring at welterweight.

Could be on Eurosport a few weeks after the fight happens, i'll have to keep me eye open and catch this one.

If Damgaard can return to his old ways then the fight could be very exciting.If not then it will be a clear UD for Urkal.

Urkal wants to fight for a title next (a win provided). He is 35 years........

I think this is a great little fight. Maybe Damgaard’s last chance to justify that amazing Ring Ranking record…

Cracking chance for Anderson this - that guy who beat Barnes isn't much.

Got to feel sorry for Bradley Pryce as Anderson has pulled out of the British title eliminator, that must three of four fights that have fallen through for Pryce in the recent past. A battle with Ali N would be a great fight (suggested by Real Deal) maybe they could do it as a Commonwealth eliminator

It was rumoured in a danish paper today that Damgaard will pull out of the match vs Urkal because he might get a world title fight. Im starting to get tired of all the pulling out by danish fighters the last couple of years. I wonder what the reason is behind it.

It would really be a shame if this fight doesn't come off since these 2 really are the 2 best european welterweights. And a win for Damgaard would really make him a serious contender for the big belts.
Would the world title fight the be against Antonio Margarito since the other 3 is on Judah and he is busy? I see that Damgaard is rated 14 by the WBO so is that a possibility?
(Funny side note is that Judah, Mitchell, Spinks and Urkal is not in the top 15 for WBO)

Per Aake Persson asked Mogens Palle if its true. Palle says its still on.

Quite a job that Team Palle has done out there in The Netherlands. 14 fighters that they manage (and have since 1997) with a combined total of 268 wins with only 7 defeats, and 4 draws.

Either they really know how to pick tomato cans for their fighters to fight, or these guys truly are good fighters. Damgaard and one other fella are both 36 and 0. They have a couple of fighters with 2 losses on their records (they must be the gyms whipping boys with that many losses!) LOL!

I stumbled across Damgaard one day out here and was wondering why Zab or Cory hadn't fought them yet, and then I remember that they were European fighters, and usually those don't make for such great fights (personally if I was a professional matchmaker I would get more exposure around the world - I mean what the Hell good is it to be a "world" champion if you only fight people from your continent?)

Nice forum you guys have out here. I represent a fighter who is a Junior Welterweight/Welterweight, and I would love it if he could get some European exposure.

Please guys don't let his record turn you immediately off. He is one Hell of a fighter, and has been the fan favorite on all of the cards in which he has fought. As you will see he does not fight Tomato Cans (He was winning his match against Jens Pulver prior to the KO - Jens Pulver was 3 time UFC MMA Lightweight Champion, and just turned to Pro Boxing just recently).

His last fight the guy hit him low 4 times (he knew Jeff was either gonna UD him if not KO/TKO him and resorted to dirty fighting).

Jeff is a really great kid (at 34 I guess you really cannot call him a kid, but...). We would love to match up against our European brothers if the chance ever comes out way. If you know of any 140lb fighters from Europe coming over or if such accomodation could ever be extended - I know Jeff would love to fight. I also understand that accomodation cannot come without some seeing first so I am working on a profile of his fights for those who may be interested to see (from tapings from some of his fights).

We asked for Bradley Pryce for Ali's last fight which was the 8th July and never heard anything.
