Mr Warren has an article in today's Guardian. And I quote:

"Williams (Richard, of the Guardian) compared Amir to fellow Olympic star Audley Harrison, who despite much hype when he turned professional was a flop for his paymasters at the BBC.

But I wasn't guiding Harrison's career - it would have turned out much differently if I had been - and unlike Audley, Khan will not be headlining bills in four- and six-rounders."

Like many of us, Tony Connolly picked up on this inconsistency in Boxing News too.

If Khan is the one providing the excitment in the ring (no matter how well the odds are stacked in his favour) then I see no problem in him topping bills.

It didn't work with Audley because more often than not he stunk the place out.

I agree that it was a mistake to have Audley topping the bills so early in his career, but when he decided to promote himself it would of meant that A-Force promotions would have had to sign a BIG recognised name or 2 to top the shows, which is a difficult task for a new promotion company.

I'd like to reserve my judgement on this matter untill a few more fights. I would like to know how much "control" does Warren have over the ITV's marketing strategy. Officially at least, Williams vs Skelton was the main event perhaps he had no control over the way ITV hyped it.

Certainly at the end of the Arthur vs Sinistin show, all ITV discussed was Joe Calzaghe. I do believe Khan is on that bill and I do believe he will be playing at least second fiddle to Joe - maybe lower.

Khan was always the draw on that card, and I think everyone knew that. He is going to draw more bums on seats than Williams and Skelton combined, which is why it was held in Bolton.

I know mate, allegedly seems to have done an about turn you're right, but at least with Amir Khan the attendance/viewing figures is only likely to increase not decrease.

"Knackered" does not sell. Certainly not in boxing.

With Khan appearing on undercards at the moment , his managment can get away from matching him to tough to early, if he was headlining and people knew that it was a mismatch they would start to complain, look at the critisism that Harrison took.

I think its sensible to keep Khan on undercards, maybe here and get him on a couple of big shows in the US for experience.

Warren always was complaining about Audley and now he's doing the same.

Apparently the mc made the mistake of announcing Khan as the main event. Rumours have it that Mr Pass has since had his wrists slapped for his errors.

I like Mike Pass, sat next to him covering a show at the york hall, very funny bloke. Good job really the main event was Long V Skelton

he was trying to impress the ruing card gals with an impresison of elvis (which actually wasnt bad) but they were having none of it, me and howard foster (referee) were caning him and pissing ourselves, good lad he took it on the chin. top stuff!

yeah agreed very nice down to earth guy.

Richie davis as well was a funny guy, very dry but funny all the same

was an enjoyable evening as it gos more due to company though the meager hunt fight was a cracker.
