I was under the impression that In Jin Chi would be defending his title against Ricardo Juarez some time soon in the US. But a boxrec editor now has Juarez v ??? for the WBC title. I also think the venue for this has been changed, although I'm not sure and couldn't find any other info. Has Chi vacated/been dumped, or has this fight just fallen through and Jaurez is just having a keep-busy fight minus WBC title?

More importantly, does anyone else have a Wanadoo internet connection (actually, I suppose you can just go to their search engine.) Has anyone else noticed that you can type in "passion-4" (bit dodgy if you have a dirty mind) and it comes (ha ha) up with the one your after (boxing list, obviously) no problems at all. But then I type in "EBU" OR "european boxing Union" and it warns me of x-rated adult content in the search results. Am I about to be tapped by interpole or am I naive to find nothing sexually ecplicit in the european boxing union?

July 28, 2005 - Reliable sources from Korea have informed Boxingtalk.com that WBC featherweight champion In Jin Chi has pulled out of his scheduled August 20 fight with undefeated mandatory challenger Rocky Juarez. Juarez-Chi was to be the televised co-feature to the Fernando Vargas-Javier Castillejo card and was expected to be one of the most competitive fights HBO has provided its subscribers all year long. Juarez is likely to stay on the card, but this news is hot of the presses, so stay tuned for all the latest. Until then, REMEMBER WHERE YOU HEARD IT FIRST! (12:45 AM ET)

Update: Rocky Juarez's manager Shelly Finkel has confirmed Chi pulling out of the fight. Juarez will remain on the card and an interim title fight could be in the works.

Shame Brodie retired I'm sure he would have had a high WBC ranking despite the Harrison defeat.

Cook is at #3 so maybe he's got a chance.

Juarez would give Brodie one hell of a beating at this point. He made the right decision retiring he's too good to be a punching bag, it was however a fight too late he shouldnt have come back after the second Chi fight.

Yeah i would agree, as much as Brodie deserves a break there would be only one way for him now and that is down. It's a shame but putting him in with Juarez would not be a good move, Juarez is young and fresh and would dish out a beating to Brodie IMO

Big shock, IMO anyway, as Soto beats Juarez by UD last night. A close score, although Soto was deducted a point in 9 and 10.

A big shock to see Juarez lose to Soto, Juarez was tipped for big things even though the cracks were beginning to show when he faced Raheem. Well done to Soto, just think what Chi might have done to Juarez

I guess the question now is how will Soto do against Chi?

A solid win for Vargas also.

I think Chi will start as the favourite vs Soto.

Well even though Chi has shown he may not be the superman we all thought he was in his fights with Sugama and Browne i would still expect him to beat Soto. I think Chi versus Chris John would be a good fight, both with an all action style and both title holders, i think it would generate some interest especially in Asia.

soto said chi might retire from his injury. scott harrison team should throw a shit load of cash to get soto to glasgow.

How do you feel? Did you come out of the fight without injury?
(Humberto Soto)I feel a little sore but that is just boxing. No injuries though.

Did you feel you were ever seriously hurt during the bout?
(Humberto Soto)Rocky Juarez is a first class fighter and I knew that coming into the fight but I trained hard for this fight and it helped me get through the rough moments of this fight.

Nacho was their a rematch clause with this fight?
(Nacho Huizar)No, not all we are free to negotiate our next fight.

Would that be against InJin Chi who pulled out of his fight with Juarez because of injury?
(Nacho Huizar)No. I was informed earlier tonight that the injury that kept him from fighting Juarez may force him to retire.

So Humberto is going to be the absolute champion not interim.

Well that is bad news for Chi, i had in a strange way grown fond of his style after his fights with Morales and Brodie and i was sort of hoping the best was yet to come in regards to him getting it on with the other champions. Well done though to Soto, he did a great job by the sound of it but without wishing to take anything away from his achievements i just get a feeling (the Raheem fight included) that maybe Juarez wasn't all he was cracked up to be.
