After thinking about Asian fighter biases, I was wondering who would win this matchup in the eyes of the posters here that have seen both fight. I haven't seen Chang fight, but I've heard and read a lot of great things about him. So how would he do with Lopez, the acknowledged king of the little men?

I would bet my house and yours on Lopez.

Would have definitely been an interesting fight - At 108 Chang would have given Lopez a real fight....but I'd probably still pick Lopez (almost have too)...

I would have liked to seen Sorjaturong Vs Lopez at 108.....when Lopez blew him out (KO 2) it was at 105 and Sorjaturong was very raw at that point.

Sorjaturong in his prime at 108 would have definitely had a KO opportunity Vs Lopez.

Lopez could have had a bunch of bigger fights at 108 / 112......but they never came about....and to some extent that has to take a notch off of Lopez.

Though perhaps a move to 112 would have been just too much and Lopez knew this....and smartly avoiding going up there.

Lopez by a fairly close decision (maybe 7-4-1). Chang was a hell of a fighter; swarmer v. master technician.

I think Lopez would've stopped him; it'd probably have lasted a bit longer. Saman didn't have a good defense.
As for Lopez and big fights, Chiquita was done by July 95, and Finito didn't really become a P4P guy until the end of 94 when he started appearing on DKP cards. He then injured his hand v. Tabanas and was out almost a year. So by the time he got back, the best fight out there at 108 was with a past prime Carbajal or Saman, whom he'd already destroyed. I don't criticize fighters for not moving up; maybe he didn't feel comfortable doing so.

Provided Chang entered the ring in shape and fired up (he was sorta Duranesque in that regard) I think he'd have won a close decision. His sort of enigmatic style would've given the very rigid Lopez a lot of issues, in my opinion. Not that I expect many will agree. Lopez's reputation far exceeds his accomplishments.
