Agree on the top 4. Can't see Chelsea losing. Man Utd I think will completely fall apart. And if Arsenal miss Viera that much (or an Henry injury) then maybe Liverpool may sneak 2nd, although they're not entirely proven in the league themselves.

Due to ancestral ties I have long been forced into supporting Bolton (and the emotional baggage that goes with it) so I'd love to agree with you about making it into Europe again next season, but I just think there's a player or two showing their age now, no new proven signings, and the distraction of Europe as well. I'd be happy with mid-table, get through the group stages of the UEFA Cup, and maybe a cup final. (I love that, at the start of the season, players/managers from about 30 clubs all say they'd like to reach a cup final)

Tottenam I think could be the dark horses of the season, and could beat Newcastle (moaning bunch of prima donnas) Everton (can't replicate last season) to 5th or 6th. Maybe Middlesburgh a little chance this season too.

Relegation not sure. Maybe tip one of last season's promoted clubs to stay up, and go for a big name to drop - Fulham, Blackburn? Chris Coleman first for the sack I think though.

Ipswich to go up? Southampton to do a Leeds, Wimbledon and all the others to be sucked into the void? I think this Redknapp/Wilkinson thing will be comedy. Redknapp leaves after about two weeks.

Even after the excellent performance last night, I don't think Celtic have the strengh in the squad or the spirit they had under O'Neil to beat Rangers to the title.

Southampton to do a Leeds? Behave yourself. On what basis?

Leeds = financially fucked, and had to sell EVERYONE half decent they had...and are still in total financial mire.

Southampton =

1. Financially sound
2. One of the best youth systems in the country. (three of the U19 Euro Championship team that just made the final vs France were Saints academy. More than any other team, Premiership included).
3. Theo Walcot, Kenwayne Jones (hat-trick vs Anderlecht on Saturday in front of my very eyes), all coming through too.
4. Good new signing in Hijto (Polish defender - 62 caps)

How Southampton and Leeds are comparable, only you know.

Obviously your opinion is your opinion, but you could at least base it on some sort of substance.

So it is. I got the first letter right, and I did have Clive in my head. I just think they will struggle, largely because of potential choppy seas ahead with management. Just what I think. Could win the Championship with 100 points.

He isn't worth that, as Villa know, and as Liverpool will find out. He just suited Saints style of play last season when Beattie left. He's injured already too I see....

How the fornicate Everton managed to finish where they did last year is beyond me. A total bag of shite. They'll be scrapping it out at the bottom.

Newcastle and Sunderland will hopefully self-destruct. The inaccurate mythology surrounding both of these clubs and their supporters makes me vomit.

Boro (my team, if you hadn't guessed by the above vitriol) will be lucky to better last season's placing.

Arsenal must suffer the loss of Vieira, surely? But Wenger usually gets it right.

I don't see Southampton going up directly. Palace and Norwich have excellent squads and know what it's like to play at this level. Southampton look strong, but there's a lot of kids in there plus I think the Championship could well be a bit of a rude awakening for both fans and players. I reckon you'll be in the playoffs, and after that it's a bit of a lottery.

Well Redknapp is the key eh. I accept the Saints players won't have much championship experience, but Redknapp has in getting Pompey promoted?

A few Saints players like Ormerod, Prutton and so on were all playing in that league when saints snapped them up. Kenwayne Jones was on loan to Sheffield Wed for nine games last season.. scoring 7 goals.

I think they'll be alright. Saints have a better squad than either Norwich or Palace in my opinion. I don't see that Norwich have many top players whatsoever actually...

Well, they both finished above you last year mate!

Norwich look to have a great squad for this level, they haven't sold, they've made some good signings and both they and Palace have got something that Saints don't - a guy who's proved he can score week in, week out in the championship.

Harry could be your biggest asset, but he doesn't have a track record of playing youngsters. He tends to go for experience more, although he hasn't started his usual trick of signing up a bunch 30+ yr-olds on free transfers. We had Dexter Blackstock on loan here last season, one of your under-19s, and he's talented but a loooong way from being the finished article. Still, the mix of youth and experience means that you should have a good crack. I just think the Palace and Norwich, and possibly Wolves who looked great at the end of last season and have got Camara to fornicate off, will be better suited.

Chatting to a mate who works for B&HA website last night. He get all these stats from the FA and football league and, knowing I'm a bit of statto, he told me that in the last 6 years, ony 4 of 18 teams have gone straight back up, and all of them have had recent Div1 experience, so if you do go back up it'll be somewhat against the grain.

Does Rupert Lowe travel to away games? Because he's going to get heaps if he comes to Plymouth. Odious little pudendum that he is.

Yes, well Lowe is hardly popular with the vast majority of Saints fans. I swear the bloke enjoys being in the newspapers or something because he’s rarely out of them for one reason or another.

I guess the bottom line is results, and yes Norwich and Palace did finish above Saints (narrowly) last season. But in fairness, it was as tight as the last game of the season which decided places, and more importantly Saints suffered a ridiculous level of instability over the course of last season which really bought about their demise. Not the talent of their squad.

Who will win the 2006/2007 NFL Superbowl, or the Baseball World Series? F**k knows… and that is one thing I do like about American sports. They usually have systems in place to prevent the domination of a sport by a small oligopoly e.g. a draft.

I don't expect Southampton to go up, they seem to be having a few problems building on there squad. Glenn Hoddle seems to have my lads Wolves whipped into pretty good shape pre-season so maybe it could be our year?

In the Premiership i expect Arsenal to struggle most out of the big three, there squad looks paper thin at the moment.

yeah agreed i must admit i show little or no interest unless Man u are on and even then its rare i suffer a whole game.

I show little or no interest if Man U are on...the greedy boys of the Premiership don't interest me either, i'm with Slapsy on the lower divisions. I have sort of lost interest since Football became a none contact sport.

it isnt none contact when i play. The fact i make up for my dsitinct lakc of finesse with aggression, hard running and cheating.

Rotherham isn't a bad ground to visit. The Tivoli pub (basically in the ground near enough) was reasonably hospitable when I went. Then again, it was only a friendly match. Decent pint and pie too. I live in Sheffield which is nice - apart from the two derby days. There's absolute fornicating hell on. Pubs just shut where I live for most of the day.

Reminds me of a book I once read called "Blades Business Crew". Sheffield did sound quite "no go" on Derby day.
