When did The offcial "world title " break up into 4 world titles... who were the men behind it all?

im doing an essay about this for school, and i would appreciate if anyine with lots of knowledge about this can help me out with some other question. Thanks

More of a gradual break-up, look at the governing bodies to get the dates etc.

What we class as the `legit` sancioning bodies WBA, WBC, IBF and the fourth I`d guess would be the WBO have evolved and generally been accepted over the years.

Sadly there are many many more than 4 sancioning bodies about, but as of yet they don`t get taken too serious, but the same was true about the WBO untill about 10yrs ago

But look back further and you will see various commisions claiming different champions, there was even a coloured world championship title about, but I think this was more to do with the avoided coloured fighters.
