So who will Hatton get in October?

Are our new best friends as ITV going to insist on a real fight, or a soft touch "welcome home" job?
Obviously Witter is a non starter, and I imagine the new WBA champ will want too much dosh to take a one sided thrashing.
Haven't seen the latest IBF rankings, always good for a laugh, but my guess is some guy we've never heard of from South America...
Boxing Is Back On ITV!
ITV has announced it is bringing boxing back to the network as a key part of its sporting portfolio. A two year deal with allegedly, Europe 's leading boxing promoter, will see boxing return to ITV as a regular fixture for the first time in a decade.
Under the deal ITV1 will screen up to eight Big Fight Live shows a year, with a further promotions to be shown across ITV's channels.
The deal brings two world champions to ITV, newly-crowned Ricky Hatton and Cardiff 's Joe Calzaghe. Viewers will also see Amir Khan's progress as a professional. Other exciting prospects include Scott Harrison and Alex Arthur.
Hatton's first world title defence is expected to be seen on ITV1 in October.
Nigel Pickard, ITV's Director of Programmes said: “Amir Khan's performance at last year's Olympics made boxing headline news again. His last amateur bout screened on ITV shows there is still a real audience for boxing on mainstream terrestrial television and we hope to build boxing back into a primetime sporting event.”
Mark Sharman, ITV's Controller of Sport said: “We pride ourselves on bringing the nation top quality events. Big time boxing fits the bill perfectly.”
ITV1's coverage of Amir Khan's professional debut on Big Fight Live Saturday 16th July, attracted 3.1m and an 18% share at 21:15 peaking with 4.4m and a 25% share at 22:35

Even if Hatton re-signs with Warren i very much doubt we'l be having many (maybe 1 or 2) Hatton fights live on itv1.

Hatton will fight Maussa in November or December and collect another belt.

Witter is top at #3, with #1 and #2 vacant, but there is an eliminator taking place between Ben Rabah and Morua on 5th September. Now they are #6 and #8 in the current rankings, so I would have thought it criminal that they'd put these two in at 1 and 2 and give the winner a straight shot at Hatton

That would be no problem on planet IBF - the No # 1 & 2 spots are probably on e-bay.

He wasn't

One hell of a leap then. Nevertheless, an eliminator
should be between the two highest rated and available fighters in the rankings. And I'm sure Witter would make himself available

I think Rabah and Morua might have been top two a few weeks ago but i'm not 100% sure.

Ndou was higher that one of them but somehow the lower placed fighter got the fight.

Yeah, Mausser appears very beatable and he holds another version of the title. A smart choice, but not a brave choice.

I'm still hoping for Mayweather-Hatton in November but I think were back to easy MEN Arena fights
Maybe Hatton-Zoo 2 as Zoos talking about a comeback
But as Witter has shown so many weaknesses and Hattons proved himself they may finally get it on. Lets all go on Ricky and Warrens sites and say Witter would be an easy fight because he has no stamina and can't ko real LWWs.

Hatton will not give witter the payday he's been craving. :)

I suppose you think fighting Tszyu wasnt a brave choice either?.

I would stick him in with Ndou.
It will give Ricky a good showcase on ITV without the need for the extreme training he did for Tszyu.
Then hopefully one of the big guns in the division might be available around March/April time in the new year.

Japsey, No targetting Kostya WAS a brave choice, you won't find any posts from me slating Hatton about ACTUALLY fighting Tszyu. Picking Mausser isn't that brave when you consider what else is out there at 10stone. But he has the WBA belt for what it's worth and has just brushed Vivien Harris aside in the process, so on paper it looks good and would be a lower risk, higher reward fight than say , Witter.

Wouldn't it be funny if Maussa went on to wipe out the division and rule supreme

I think ITV could be sold on this fight. WBA champ against IBF. But after sixty seconds of seeing Maussa windmill his way across the ring, Mr Sharman will have his head in his hands! In fact, Mr Sharman might end up with Maussa's head in his hands if he sits in the third row!

Make sense of this if you will.
Boxrec have BOTH Ben Rabah-Morua and N'Dou against Cesar Bazan (that fight Sunday on the Cris John undercard in oz)
This while Witter is the highest rated challenger on #3

You Witter nuthuggers are unreal.
Witter has been trying to live off the success of Hatton for years every second sentence is about Hatton. Hatton and Witter dont get on.

I'l say it very clearly now Hatton will not give Witter the payday that he dreams about until either he's got something Hatton wants or Hatton loses.

I will have you know, I have not in the least bit of a tendancy to hug nuts. Junior Witter's nuts I see no particular merit for hugging when my general stance is thus. My point of pontefaction was merely to bring to the intention of anyone presently how comedy IBF rankings are. That's all.

Japsey, If Witter boxed Hatton I'd be rooting for Hatton so by saying Witter would be a braver move by Hatton's camp only shows unbias on my part.
I wonder where Mausser would come if a poll was taken asking who the bravest choice of opponent would be for Hatton next ?
My guess would be that Mayweather would come out on top by a landslide and Mausser somewhere down the list.

Now would be a good time to get Miguel Cotto. He is DEAD at the weight, and showing nowhere near what he is capable of. I watched him against Maussa the other night and he put on a masterclass that reminded me why everyone was getting so excited about him not so long ago.
Of course, the well-noted chinks made an appearance - a little too patient, not quick enough to finish, content to coast, etc. Nevertheless, it also gave me a different view of Maussa. I actually rate him a bit higher than I did after seeing the Harris fight - his chin is very good, maybe great; his unique awkward style is a little decieiving toward his boxing ability (over 300 amateur fights, 5 time Colombian amateur champion), he is great at toying with your head and emotions i.e. taking you out your fight plan and sapping you of your energy.
Cotto was brilliant that night and I'd like to see him up at welter ASAP so he can get back to business.

Was I called a Witter nuthugger?? I could care less who wins. I dobt think I have seen 5 fights of those two combined.

That Manos is one of the most astute posts I have read concerning the 140lb division.
The scathing comments about Hatton targeting Maussa though just for his belt (from other posters here) will be scuppered by Maussa's management. I doubt if they would throw him in with Hatton or Mayweather now when he can earn from a coupe of defences including Harris who will hold no fear for him.

Despite my own post being tongue in cheek i don't think Maussa is as bad as we think, he is deceptive in his abilities because of his unorthodox manner. Vivian Harris must of been in seriously bad shape because he wasn't the same guy that twice went to Germany to beat the world class Urkal and outwit the very smart boxer M'baye, maybe Maussa can hit a bit too.
