Tasty domestic scrap... Reid V Froch

Shit, this one could be quite possible given recent events, and would be a great move for either man!!
Re-consolidation for Reid, or graduation for Froch!!

Yes it would be a good scrap, i would expect Froch to win given the shell that Reid is nowadays but still it would be another one of those cliched "crossroads" fights i keep mentioning lately

I think it is time (if he wants to continue) for Reid to fight at Light Heavy. I geniunally think he struggles with the weight because often he is way over the limit in non title fights.
Maybe a fight with Oboh leading to a possible clash with Woods.
I think Woods, Oboh and Froch will beat him but he might be a little more comfortable at Light Heavy these days.

I really think he should retire, he has nothing left at world title level so what do you have to fight for after that apart from money?

I've only seen Froch and Reid once. I thought Froch needed a little more experience but he gained my respect for not destroying his opponent on DLH's Boxe de Oro. As for Reid, he looks a bit old, this would be a good move for Froch but seeing as how i've only seen both fighters once before I don't know what they're truly capable of, but if it ever did happen, I'd root for Froch.

I do agree with that, but if he is too continue I would like to see him at Light Heavy.
Never rated Reid at all, good chin, good power and that is about it. He beat a terrible champion in Nardiello and his list of opponents in his title defences wasn't the greatest.
Preterious - a bulked up Middleweight who did nothing on the world scene.
Wharton - a limited banger coming to the end of his career.
Cherifi (who I thought beat Reid) - his best "victory" as Cherifi was around his prime, but again a Middleweight.
Then he loses to an ancient Malinga. Runs a Joe Calzaghe who shouldn't have been in the ring close, loses to an aging Branco. Fights very well against an aging Ottke, and was generally losing the boxing exchanges vs Magee - but clubbed him down enough times to win the fight.
Despite winning a world title and coming close to winning it on two other occasions I just found him too one paced, too stiff (no pun) and too slow to really be called a great British fighter.

I think I'd have to go for Froch now.

He may very well need the money!! At 34 I doubt he can afford to retire, and domestically he is still ranked #2. His career is drawing to an end, why not get British level fights, and make as much money as pos.

I'd rather see froch vs. Tsypko, froch is 28 and they way they hype him up, make some noise on the euro. level at least he's proven enough on the UK scene there..if he gets by tsypko big if, maybe kessler would be a good match.

Well a move up to Light Heavy would be a good move if he is struggling with the weight but if he is now getting knocked down and the chin isn't so great anymore putting him in with the bigger hitters at the higher weight might not be so beneficial.
As for Froch-Tsypko well i doubt Froch would get many favours from the Germans if he challenged Tsypko and he would certainly have to travel for the fight. However he may have the power to hurt the Ukranian, it was a shame Tsypko-Lacy was so prematurely ended, it could have told us a lot about both men.

I`d go with Reid, before the Lacy fight I would have said it was a dead cert for Reid.
Robin would have a better camp for a Froch match.
Froch ain`t no Jeff Lacy, its like chalk and cheese to compare Lacy`s style with Froch.
Froch is hands down chin up mouth open when he comes in, all it would take is one well timed shot of Reid.
Froch is too much of an arsehole to box his way also, sooner or later he`d catch Reid and his ego would want him to stop Reid...mouth open chin up...and Robin bounces a right-hander into his chin and..... :P

reid is shot, froch is hungry and on the way up.
Froch wins. He doesn't have the output of lacy though, so a wide points win probably.

How is Reid going to knock out Froch? He has absolutely no snap in his shots these days I really dont see it happening.
Reid should retire.

Good post. I was at the Branco 'fight' - horrible, horrible. The most memorable thing was a sweet low blow Reid administered to Branco's horrid, pulled up too high, yellow-mustard coloured shorts.

FROCH TO WIN BY ROUND 10 STOPPAGE

Strange why people are writing Robin off against Froch because of what Lacy did to him.
Froch is no Jeff Lacy.
Instead of looking to Robins last fight take a closer look at Froch`s last few fights, he is hittable..even for an older Robin Reid...and who has Froch ever fought who could hit anywhere as hard as Robin?

My gran could outwork Reid these days - he has a lower workrate than Hopkins!

But all the negatives are on Reid now because of his last fight, but he won`t be fighting Lacy again...we`re talking Froch :P

True, but I think Froch easily outboxes Reid. Froch's chin looks decent enough. Lets be honest Brian Magee would have beaten Reid but for his shitty whiskers.

I would have loved to have seen Starie vs Reid a few years ago. I think Starie would have run rings round him.
Starie outboxed Ottke at times also.
Froch vs Reid would be interesting but I think Froch is a too fast, too fit and too hungry for Reid now. I expect a late stoppage win.

What your saying is wright but.....I just can`t take to Froch
I`d have to have faith Robin could just land the one big right-hander
Either way that is how Froch comes unstuck..he lifts his head, opens his mouth and lunges forward when he thinks he`s got somebody hurt.
As of now his chin has looked decent, but who has he fought

Amen. Reid was never concussed against Lacy, it was strenght AND volume which made him take to the canvas, a combination Froch would not be able to replicate.
Froch may outbox him, but it would be interesting, as Froch is relatively inexperienced, and boxes with a wide open style!
I think it is a fight both fighter will want!!
