When was the first reconised title belt? was it the "World title" that sullivan and corbett fought for? who was the commission for the belt?
when did the fist Bullshit belt come into play? wasnt it the WBC in like 70's?

im going to write a report for my english assesment.. on the politics surrounding boxing that has ruined the sport.. all the way from when the "World title belt" first came into play.. i am going to reconise the good points and bad points about the old times, like good points such as only one belt, and money not really corruptin g the sport. Bad point would be the coloured belt and the racial discrimination against black fighters.

Do any of you guys know of any sources that i could get my information from? sites, books,dvds etc.... ill use this forum as a source since we have boxing experts and historians on here...

Don`t think there was only ever one recognised belt untill probably the early part of the last century, every claimant almost always had somebody else who was recognised by somebody else as their particular champion, even the Great John L. had to put up with the nonsense when Mr Richard Kyle Fox tried to have himself a champion for his paper.

Lots of dynamics in your research. As for the trinket itself "the belt" I would love to know how and when it first surfaced as an actual "item".
What did it look like, who made them. when was the first one created and for who? I think everyonone gets to keep them these days but was it once like a Stanley cup where it moved from champion to champion saying goodbye to it's former owner? You can bet as soon as it surfaced as a treasured trinket it wasnt long before forgerys were soon to follow. And then the organizations that forged them began to gain credibility.
