Which boxer had the best combination of speed and power.
Two names come to mind when I think of this, Roy Jones Jr. and Mike Tyson in their prime.
Are ther any others?

if we're talking hand speed then how about Hearns? He had great hand speed and was probably the hardest puncher ever at welterweight.
Leonard was quick and packed a real punch at welter as did Robinson.
Ezzard Charles had both speed and power too.
Louis in his prime was as quick and as powerful as they come.

How you can put Roy Jones in a thread about speed and POWER is beyond me. RJJ had speed, but POWER? Come on!

If you look at his MW and super MW record you will see a LOT of KO's over pretty good competition. Remember the Virgil Hill body punch? And that was at LH.
Of course, in general he didn't have quite the same success at LH or against Ruiz, but it's pretty hard to find anyone in history who moved up 40+ lbs in weight during their career and contiued to easily KO contenders. I can't think of any fighter in history.
So yes, I would say RJJ is a very good example of speed and power.

defintely mike tyson. also sugar ray robinson. sugar ray leonard didnt have as much power to go with his incredible hand speed.
yeah roy jones defintely had power, especially at middle and super middleweight. he knocked out a lot of top contenders. i defintely think he lost his power a little when he went up to light-H.
hears also lost his power a little when he went up. after welter, and JM, he didnt have his same devastating power AS MUCH and that was cause he moved up.
also how bout joe louis, along with his power he had some pretty decent hand speed.

I thought about Hearns.

Number 1) Joe Louis-Faster then Tyson, and MUCH more accurate.
Some others- Ike Williams, Rubin Carter, Hagler in his prime
What I've seen of Monzon, he was not particularly fast
BB-Leonard had more power at welter then Jones did at middle.

I agree
Leonard was some puncher at Welter. His power often gets overlooked because people compare him with Hearns who was a monster hitter at Welter.

Now I definitely think that Joe Louis was the better fighter, but i have to disagree when you say that he was faster than Tyson.

Ali gets the nod from me at heavyweight even though the power was not at the top end of the scale.
The old mongoose at Light Heavy, more knockouts than anyone.
Middleweight ....Carlos Monzon and Sugar Ray Robinson
Hearns at Welterweight.
Duran at Lightweight only...Hands of Stone! Hands of Stone!....and those hands were pretty damn fast at lightweight.
I'm calling it for fighters that I am very familiar with so none of the very old appear in my list in this case.

At 168 Jones looked like he had power to burn, to me. Ask Paz, Sosa etc etc

Ali only had incredible speed, his power was ok but It was nowhere near his speed.
Most of his KO's came by cut's or from wearing his opponents down.
