Can someone tell me how David Haye is mandatory for the EBU Cruiserweight title vs Gurov as he is yet to fight for the British and Commonwealth, and has fought stiffs up to now, excluding true warrior Thompson?

So are you disillusioned with the sport or is David Haye? I agree he is undeserving as a mandatory to the title but i wouldn't mind him getting in with the top guys as would be willing to fight them. He has the ability, there is nothing worse than sticking in guys who can't fight or don't want to, at least we would know Haye would be ready and willing.

Maybe Haye has seen Gurov getting sparked in 10 seconds by Terry Dunstan and thinks he can do the same? Either way, he needs to stay clear of the ones that can fight.

The ranking is a strange one. I'm sat here writing on a brown envelope any ideas how, but I really can't understand it.

I'm a Haye fan, but I can't understand how hes got this EU ranking (although Glen Kelly was very highly ranked). If Haye beats Hobson then I think he will have deserved the ranking.

Fair play to Haye he could have used this mandatory ranking as an excuse to skip past Hobson, but he hasn't

Haye should target the Gurov body if they fight, Gurov is an active puncher but Mormeck slowed him down sufficiently before walking him down.

The Hobson Haye fight is now not in Huddersfield, and will probably be in Sheffield. Haye was asking for the territorial army to escort him to and from the ring and additional police and security to protect him from the public.

I am disillusioned because as a Hobson fan surely he is more deserving of a EBU chance? Opportunities to fight for titles should be on merit and not money.....

Yes that will be the case, but I am discussing how it stands at present, I think Manos was right with the brown envelope senario.

It just makes me wonder about the EBU....which makes me feel disillusioned....

he has taken on and beaten folk who are higher ranked than Hobson, your just moaning aobut nothign dude, Haye hasnt taken the EU shot anyway he is fighting mark, so i realyl dont understand what your gripe is .

Arhur williams, Lolegna mock, glen kelly, losing to thomspon after giving him a beating for 3 rounds, and disposing of delaney so easily in last fight.

all better names than the likes of Tony moran, Varus Davtyan, and lee swaby, whom lets forget made a mess of Hobson when they first met

really i like hobson, but some of his followers are so one eyed its pathetic.

Its surely th most eagerly anticipated British title fight since.....well since I can remember

it'd be interesting to see Haye beat Hobson and then go for Gurov. that'd be taking two consecutive steps up which doesn't always happen. Haye looks to be improving, being more patient and all and using his reach more. I think the Thompson loss was good for him.

Hobson looked vulnerable vs Bruce Scott. Scott looked like he could take him out like Thompson did Haye, although it didn't happen. Be good to see how Haye reacts to a taller foe.

I don't think Haye faked the injury. He's not been scared to step up and Hobson does look very beatable. can't wait to see how far David can go as cruiser is pretty tough at the top

Haye doesn't seem to be the type to bottle a job from what i can see. Hobson looked tentative versus Bruce Scott, he wouldn't commit and seemed wary of Scott's power.

One of the reasons that Haye is mandatory is that alot of the top fighters arent allowed/have other plans than to fight Gurov. Fighters like: Mormeck, Nelson, Cantatore, Brudov, Rossitto, Maccarinelli

I reckon Haye will smash fook out of Hobson. Haye is a world class 4 round fighter and is an electric starter. Against British level fighters like Hobson, Haye will have way too much fire power.

Effectively, Hobson can only win by surviving through to the half way stage, where he can then set-about and take the fight to a potentially weary Haye.

Hobson's problem however is that he doesnt have the gile of a Johnny Nelson to avoid Hayes punches nor the chin and grit of a Carl Thompson to be able to take such shots and thus take Haye past the half way stage.

Hobson may not have the gile of Nelson but his chin cant be questioned - never been stopped and only put down twice in his career. He also got up twice and went on to win that fight in a british title eliminator - which must count for something.

Hayes chin on the other hand.........

Hayes "power" is only good when he's fighting stiffs and counted against him when he fought Thomson who showed his power to be average.

also id be careful what you say bout Hayes chin, that didnt lose him the fight v the cat his lack of cardiovascular fitness and tactics did, he took some massive bombs agianst Carl and while he went down he got up again and again. A big crew of us were there for that fight including Ian and James and we all agreed on this.

Hayes chin while not a class isnt as bad as many make out.

thomsnons chin on the other hand is just amazing, the bloke isnt human.

I am struggling to follow the politics of this, if Haye wins he fights Gurov? If Hobson wins he gets the shot at Gurov? What's the problem

Funnily enough, that fight proved he took a shot for me.

Thompson KO'd Rothmann with 1 shot, Haye took some murderous punishment and was still on his feet at the end.

Your right it was exhaustion and possibly not great conditioning that cost Haye, it wasn't like he was KO'd by a jab or anything, he stood up to Thompson and took his lumps.

Crazy bastard even waved a surging Thompson in for more after being dropped, got to admire his bollocks for that. Wasn't it a towel thrown in in the end?
