I see that Nelson has given Vincenzo Cantetore (spl) another chance for a fight?!
Looks like we will have to wait for the Maccarinelli fight :( Cant see it happening myself!

Per Ake Persson said it had gone to purse bids again. I did wonder why...

Jesus christ, why is anyone even contemplating giving him a shot?

I can't see the Macarinelli fight happening, i think Nelson's career will just fade out into a "has he retired or hasn't he?" scenario. Fighting Cantatore will prove nothing, it is basically a poor fight.

Maybe Johnny is pricing himself out of a fight with Macca, or rather
SN don't want to pay him what is required. I don't think Macca is scared
of fighting Nelson, christ knows he could do with the profile, he's virtually
dissapeared recently.

I can't see JN having more than 2 more fights
I have no clue what he has made from the game, but he strikes me as shrewd enough to have invested it wisely and his nacent career on TV looks promising. So, fighting would not be that attractive
I would hope he would have this next fight and then fight Macca. A last hurrah ( one he would win easily IMHO ) and a good payday to cap off an interesting if often infuriating career

Well, if Cantatore's a mando, I suppose it has to be made, but I'm still wondering whether it was the kicking he got off Braithwaite, the draw with May or the activity record of one fight in 15 months that has convinced them to stick with Cantatore as a viable number 1 contender.
Looking ofr another mystery injury. This one just isn't going to sell.
Macca's number 2 contender, isn't he?

Don't think his heart is in it any more. I can see the Cantatore fight being his last and then a TV deal which I must admit he is quite good at.
The Macca fight will not happen and Nelson will probably retire and in everyones eyes will probably look like he's ducked Macca. I thought Macca would have done more with his career by now and he might regret waiting around for the Nelson fight to happen.
BTW I thought Sports Network had accepted Johnny Nelsons asking money for the Macca fight, it was all but signed. Big shame although I am sure Nelson would have KO'd Macca!

Thats why SN only offered $155k for the fight and $160k won it. Hardly record breaking purse figures!

Since when have WBO mandatories had to be viable?

Yep, in retrospect that comment could only have been made more naive if I'd wondered exactly what Macca's done to be number 2...
Trouble is, without the belt Nelson's too easily avoided, especially given his low activity. Chicken and egg, though, there, I suppose.

According to the fight fans schedule (one I usually rate, although has been wrong on a couple of occasions) it is set for Rome on October the 31st.
