Valuev next opponent is Larry Donald, it will take place on the 1st of October and is an official eliminator for the WBA title.

Despite his win over Holyfield last year, he is a pretty poor choice of opponent, he is also only ranked #8 by the WBA so not sure how he has got this shot.

Larry Donald is famed for his fighting heart and his excellent performances vs big men (Riddick Bowe / Vitali Klitshcko). He is coming off a spirited draw vs the world class Ray Austin and is 38 years young.

This could be a cracker!

Ideal preperation for Ruiz, unless Skelton gets there first.

I fail to see how Skelton is going to get a crack at Ruiz, no idea where all that talk came from!!

Neither can I, but Skelton and Warren both mentioned a WBA title attempt very soon after his last fight. No idea where it came from he's not even in the top 15. The only organisation he is in the top 15 is the WBO

I don't know what the hell Don King would see in Skelton commercially to put him up with Ruiz. I'm sure some faint murmering's must have been mentioned to Skelton or Warren tho for them to talk about it.

McBride is a more obvious candidate. You've got the Irish connection to play with on a NY crowd, not to mention he is the demolisher/conqueror who tore a prime Tyson apart

Lets be honest relations between Warren and King are not good, you may recall Warren had to pay extensive damages to King that almost took him down so I really dont see how it happens.

Ruiz would hammer Skelton anyway, as bad as Ruiz is he is leagues above Skeltons scuffling.

And it would be the ugliest fight in the history of the sport.

Donald went 10 rounds against Vitali. Ok, a long time ago, but Vitali didnt exactly shine in that one.
Valuev will ko Donald a lot faster. Inside 7. Ruiz will lose if he fights Valuev. Their styles dont match at all. Jab and grab against a guy with a longer jab, bigger height and a lot stronger than Ruiz will make for a losing night for John.

What then? if Valuev gets the WBA belt next year, whats next?

Wouldn't count Ruiz out just because Valuev is over 300 pounds. He might not jab and grab him and he's fought fighters who were bigger than him and beaten them.

You need Speed for Ruiz and Valuev might not have enough.

I cant remember the exact details but they had a kind of co-promotional agreement that went sour. They both sued each other and King ended up winning some serious damages.

You must be having a giggle, as ugly as Skelton fights, he would destroy Ruiz. Skelton is hard as nails, fit, and doesn't stop leaning and swinging. It destroys peoples stamina, and kills their morale. He is like a giant Hatton. (a rather ambitious comparison, lol)

Valuev v Donald isn't a great matchup, Valuev will either win late or win a wide decision.

As for Ruiz, he does everything that Skelton does, only better. The main weapon of his is his Jab, and that would be stuck in on Skelton when he charges in, i'd pick Ruiz to take Skelton inside of 5 rounds.

For all that Skelton has done with his limited skills, he is not world class, and will get found out when he steps up.

Ruiz would beat Skelton with ease.

at the moment I don´t see any reason why Skelton should get a WBA-title chance? Ruiz has to fight the winner of the Eliminator (could becom boxing-word of the year ). THe WBA ordered this in the last session.

You can lough about me but the only british fighter who could get a title chance is Sprott when he wins the EBU title and defends it twice.

I can't see Sprott winning against Vidoz, he just doesn't have the chin for top Euro level, i can see Vidoz stepping up a level now he's won the EBU title, i go for Vidoz to win in 9th or 10th round against Sprott.

That would be an interesting angle to take for Rocky CXXII - some large man-eating aquatic beast (preferably with claws) comes out of the sewers of Philli with murder in his eyes and a mandatory challenger notice in his claw. Rocky must be thawed out of his chriogenic chamber once the boxing authorities fail to evict the man-eating acquatic beast (preferably with claws) with threats of removing his liscense and tarter sauce.

I really want the see the beast in a world title matchup, he beats most of his opponents by somply leaning on them and sapping them of energy before they just give up. I like Valuev hope he beats Donald which he should do, he really needs to improve that terrible overhand right he throws though

I've said it before Valuev is no joke and is a dangerous and much improved fighter who is a MAJOR threat to any of the current title holders.

I think he will stop Larry Donald in about 6-8 rounds.

I reckon he will absolutely batted Donald.

I've watched him, and he doesn't even look like the same species. I've never seen anyone as big as Valuev who could fight as well, and at 25 stone you don't need to be a murderous puncher to hurt your opponent.

I've written my first post on two different forums and thus far no one has agreed with me in their disgust that a 38 year old who drew (and I believe lucky to get the draw) with Ray Austin in his last fight is now fighting in an eliminator.
