i would have to say that ive seen the braddock louis fight several times n read about it more, the ko punch that took down braddock was one of the sickest punches ive ever seen.... also i wouldnt count any of max baers 12 knockdowns of primo carnera up there...foremans punches against smokin joe were also some of the hardest ive ever seen,

Julian Jackson's right that crippled Herol Graham was about as clean and as hard as any shot that I have ever seen land.

I'll second Barry... and add Tyson's shot that KO'd Berbick. he knocked him down 3 times with one punch - devestating.
Hearns final punch in the KO of Duran...
Patterson's punch which KO'd Johannsson
McCallum's left hook that sparked Curry
Curry's own shot which cracked McCrory like an egg
Leonard's hook which blitzed Dave Green
Robinson's much discussed KO of Fullmer
Walcott's KO of Charles
Marciano's KO of Walcott
Nelson's uppercut against Cowdell
Khaosai Galaxy had a whole catalogue of great one punch KOs.

Yes hard to beat that one - Hearns KO2 Cuevas is close though....
Hardest punch I've ever seen a boxer get up & win from: Holmes, in the 2nd Shavers fight.

The Snipes one must be clsoe too. Holmes was all over the place. Those two fights really showed what a true great he was. His finish of Shavers was really something.

what about when Joe KO'd Foster. Every time I watch that it scares me.
The same goes for Mercer-Morrison. It wasn't a single punch KO but I always think the figth should have been stopped a punch ro 2 earlier.

Hahahaha....yeah Mercer almost decapitated him. The fight definantly went on 5 punches too long, what the hell was the ref thinking.

Too right, that was brutal. Same with Ruddock/Dokes and Cooney/Norton - both guys propped on the middle ropes unconcious, while the other guy tees off.
You've reminded me of another Foster KO - Bob on the other end this time, knocking out Mike Quarry will an almighty punch. It was a shocking knockout, and brother Jerry was watching ringside, as he was on next, against Ali.

MW I've only read about that KO but never seen it. Is it the one where the guy sort of freezes after being hit.

I used to have it, so I'm going by memory Ezzard - I think Bob lands a huge uppercut, Mike freezes, then crashes over stiff as a board - he's out for some time - and I remember a worried looking Jerry looking on while they brought him round.

How about Ali v Foley. I was around Zora when he was training for the fight in Chandler, Az. As ridiculous as it sounds now, I actually thought he had a chance. And in the early rounds he seemed to be competive. And then suddenly it was over. Another nominee would be Sugar Ray's left to the jaw of Fulmer. Of course George Foreman had a career full of canditates for this one. And then there's Rocky's righthand crushing Walcott's cheek bone.

In the UK, Takaloo/Alexander
Takaloo had been in control to that point. Wound up for a big shot but gets gets a peach in return. I think the next thing that he recalled is being woken up in the dressing room.
Someone had it as their avatar or posted a clip.
A brutal one punch KO
Another is Benn's tunraround punch Vs Logan

The one Oleg Maskaev knocked Hasim Rahman out with. Marvin Johnson's that hit Victor Galindez and made him do a Curly Howard. Ron Lyle's shot that sent George Foreman face first to the canvas, can't think off hand of another fighter who ever got up a face down knockdown to ko his opponent. Robbie Peden's amazing ko of Nate Campbell in there first fight. And from the amateurs, Regilio Tuur's ko of Kelcie Banks.

There is one John Conteh fight where he KO's a guy who crumpled directly downwards like a skyscraper being demolished.
I wish I could remember who the heck it was against. it was one of the sights that really got me hooked on boxing

That right hand from Ringo would have knocked out a horse.
My two cents

It's hard not to make the Rock's ko of Jersey Joe #1. Not only was it a monster shot in it's own right but the photo of it has become one of the alltime famous boxing photos and of course it was for the greatest prize in sports, the heavyweight title. My own favorites would include Bob Foster's left hook ko's over Mike Quarry (out cold for 15 minutes) and Dick Tiger (never ko'd before or since), Dick fell own his back with his legs and arms in the air convulsing. On the other hand, as previously mentioned Joe Frazier's left hook ko of Bob was a sight to see. In addition when the Shavers/Norton fight was announced I immediately predicted to a friend of mine that Earnie would win a 1st round ko with a right uppercut. Lord why couldn't I have lived near Vegas?

- Alexis Arguello vs Kevin Rooney
- Haseem Rahman vs Lennox Lewis
- Bob Foster vs Mike Quarry
- Donald Curry vs Milton McCory
- Gerry Cooney vs Ken Norton
- Joe Frazier vs Bob Foster
- Sugar ray Leonard vs Davey Green
- Thomas Hearns vs Roberto Duran
- Marvin Hagler vs Mustafa Hamsho II
- Tommy Morrison vs Ray Mercer
Just to name a few............

I don't know which fight this was, but Tommy Morrison KO'd a guy and the guy bounced off the ropes like a rag doll.
Maybe someone can help me with this.
It was a taller Black guy with an afro.

Ken Norton's Ko of Duane Bobick looked painful, very strange one.
Most Brutal Knockout

by Chuck1052
The most brutal knockout that I saw in person was
when Mathew Saad Muhammad landed an left uppercut
on Lotte Mwale's jaw. When the blow landed, there
were small drops of water flying upward from Mwale's
head. At the time of the knockout blow, I looking at
Mwale's backside, so I didn't see the punch. However,
I did see the graphic effects of the blow..
