Best Staredowns

What were some of the best staredowns uve ever seen???

i always like the staredown between wilfredo benitez and sugar ray leonard. i always thought both looked like nice guys and non intimidating, but when i saw them stare eeachother in the eyes and put on the tough guys look, i have to admit they looked kinda scary in a way.

the funniest was Peter mcneely- mike tyson.
mcneely looked like the biggest goofball staring at tyson moving his head left and right smiling like a faggot and tyson was not moving his head, just rotating his eyes left and right looking at this guy like "what the hell is he going." and sure enough peter runs out of his corner trying to knock him out in 6 seconds like he did to another guy, and he ends up gettting knocked down 6 seconds into the fight.

aaron pryor had some cold nasty stares

frazier-foreman stare was a scary cold assasins memorable one.

what were some other ones u remember.

..one that often chilled his opponnents was that of joe louis..which was really a non stare down. he just stood there, looking sleepy eyed....dead pan....no expression at all....and the other guy at that point often wished he had listened to his mother and not have become a prize fighter.

Hearns had about a dozen great staredowns -

Duran early in his career did some serious face intimidation. Holyfield had a pretty good focused look that he would use as well. And of course Liston was pretty famous for his.

Was there any anomosity with those 2 guys during the pre fight hype? just wondering bc of the way they tore after each other during the fight, like it was personal or something.

A ton of anomosity before their fight - A tremendous amount - Hagler continually war that hat which simpkly said "war" on it -

There was much dislike between them back then - but today they are friends -

.....in interviews he gave in his retirement years, hagler said he hated everybody he fought.....really HATED them...wanted to destroy them....and as a post above says this was raised to an even higher level when he fought hearns. hearns was doing most of the verbal jabbing, which increased and hagler came back with heated responses...so yeah....there was white hot anger in that ring.

hearns had intended to box from the outside and wing that right hand in when he could, but when he was asked later why he didn't do that he said "hagler wouldn't let me..he came right after me and started the war."

another fighter who built a hate up against his opponents was rocky graziano. said he hated zale with a passion...but afterwards they became friends. i suppose the beatings each took in theri first two wars would appear here but there's no filmed record of them, although i know guy who saw the first one and he said it was sheer brutality.

graziano did ruin a young prospect. he was in against billy arnold who was the favorite and a rising star and he had rocky in real trouble in the third round and suddenly graziano cauight him with a right hand and just pounded him on the ropes until the referee pulled him away. arnold was never the same again. i have a radio transcript of that one and the tide turns in a nanosecond.

I've always liked the pre-fight weigh-in with Michael Moorer and Frans Botha. Botha is on the right hand side pretending to hit Moorer with various left hooks and uppercuts while Moorer is just staring at him. After about 10 seconds, Moorer quietly filps Botha the middle finger at chest level with his right hand. I loved it.
