How do people see this one going? Had Beyer got much left? (Or has Sheika, for that matter).

Just started a thread on this weeks action, including this bout.

I'm not sure - I don't think Beyer has alot left and Sheika looked good vs Lacy.

Sheika though is very limited and can easily be outboxed, but he has the power to KO the increasingly vulnerable Beyer and will always give it 100%.

I actually can see an upset here.

I back Beyer on points, however he is on the slide and Sheika can bang a bit. Beyer's punch resistance is understandably on the wane, Nishizawa dropped him and so did Green (3 times now although he is a banger) Beyer was in big trouble in that last round versus Green.

Btw, I don't know why people say he's sliding - the Green fight was his best since winnning his first title with a schooling of Richie Woodhall.

Beyer should win, but how many times has that been the case in the past and he hasn't? Sheika is certainly in with a chance.

Yes, as I said at the time - maybe the Sarnavia win has boosted his confidence after Cately. I have always felt it was more psychological than physical with Beyer. Having said that, I wasn't particularly impressed with him in the Green rematch, dissapointed with both of them to be honest.

Green was a bit one dimensional, apart from power and courage i am not sure what more he has to offer, as Holdsworth pointed out Green tried to box than night instead of getting inside and roughing Beyer up. Understandable though really considering he got chucked out last time he tried that approach! Fair play to Beyer though for taking the rematch in the first place.

Beyer always fades in the last couple of rounds and is a bit chinny...

Because of that an upset is possible.

They are just going to keep giving Sheika titles shots until he manages to win one. He gets knocked out by Pemberton, then gets two world title shots as his reward.
Meanwhile poor old Pemberton ends up fighting Green down under in a
"final eliminator" - just about sums up the state of boxing these days.

Green Vs Pemberton should be a cracker im getting ringside tickets and can't wait.

Sheika got through 12 rounds with Lacy and looked solid. I doubt we'll see Beyer shake him up. That trusty counter left cross should see the German retain though.

I sometimes feel a bit sorry for Beyer. For a guy who clearly doesn't love a tear up he's had some rough nights.

Your right about that MightyWarrior it stinks, Pemberton beats Sheika twice and Sheika get two world title shots and Pemberton has to fight an eliminator! So if Sheika wins against Beyer then Pemberton has to beat Green to fight a guy he has already beaten twice for the title?

Well, that's the crazy world of boxing, who are Pemberton's backers?

Sheika is a bit like Gatti, he's got a lot of opportunities through leading with his face, though from what I heard, he boxed a bit clever against Lacy.

He did box well, and looked physically very strong. Considering Lacy outstrengthed Reid that is no mean feat. At times he made Lacy look very vulnerable and was out muscling him.

I think its a bit Harsh to compare Gatti with Sheika - Gatti's record is a good bit better plus he never lost his Super Featherweight title in the ring and the gap between his world title fights is quite substancial. He lost his first fight since winning a world title in 1998 and didn't challenge for another world belt untill 2004.

If Beyer doesn't do mistakes, he should win due to his speed advantage - both hands and feet.

On the undercard Urkal retained his EBU 147 title by winning a UD over Nesterenko, scores were 114-113, 115-112 & 116-111. The fight will be shown later on ARD (Beyer vs Sheika just started)

Urkal is definately slipping (chance for Magee to gain revenge?) hurt he was floored in the 11th aswell.

I have it 39-37 Beyer so far.

Urkals original opponent for this fight was Thomas Damgaard who pulled out a month ago. It has now been confirmed that Damgaard will fight Arturo Gatti on january 28th in Atlantic City.

79-73 after 8 rounds.

Blooming hell I plumped for Sheika in the prediction league.

98-92
