Can anyone please tell me what they think would have been the result of this dream match if it ever happened ?

( Beraing in mind Manny Steward has stated that McLellan was the most talented fighter he has ever worked with ! )

Hagler by mid to late round KO. where talking about marvin hagler here.

its sad about mccellan cause if that never happened agaisnt benn, who knows how good he could have been.

Hagler. Gerard's defence wasn't as tight as Hagler's and I think Hagler would avoid or absorb his early onslaught and hit back hard...stoppage around 5-7 rnds.

Hagler had the speed and skill to exploit the G-Man defensive errors and the chin to tak his best shots.

Hagler and McClellen were on different levels.

Hagler of pre 83 wins KO5
Hagler post 84 wins KO6-10.

Hagler probably stops McClellen in the middle to late rounds - But I think McClellen is one of only a few MW that could have hurt (stopped) Hagler early ....if he landed the right shot -

Hearns hurt Hagler in round one (and if he doesn't break his right hand in that round....who knows what happens in round two and three??) - But Hearns didn't hit as hard at MW...as he did at JMW and WW -

McClellen would have been dangerous for the first 3 rounds -

Mclellan was a real power hitter and Hagler would have had to have been cautious early on. I think he'd have set himself up for the long haul and taken Mclellan out late on.

of course evryone knows the tragedy surrounding McLellan but how did Don King get away withthe statements he amde immediately after the fight? Did he ever apologise for calling McLellan a dog?

If Nigel Benn (just) could survive the early McClellen onslaught the iron-chinned Hagler certainly could.

A similar result to Hagler/Mugabi

Lots of power shots with the smarter fighting coming from Hagler.

The way to beat Marvin was movement and speed. Good lateral movement, fast hands and busy busy. The G man hadn't got this and Haglers granite chin would be the key. They both go hell for leather, but Marvins conditioning, chin and savagery prevails in about rd 3 or 4

Hagler by comfortable stoppage inside 6 rounds.

Marvin would have had too much of everything for McClellan, who was a good puncher, but was average in every other department.

McClellan was a weight-drained fighter in that fight and he not only lost power but ran out of breath enough to keep up the attack. He was braindamaged FFS, he wasn't near his best in this fight so just leave this fight out of the argument.

Mugabi was nowhere near the powerhouse clinical puncher McClellan was, he was very sloppy at times in fact.

KO Atrist that's bullshit, more like he was an unbelievable puncher, and average in very other department EXCEPT for chin. People underrate his chin he took big shots from Jackson and didn't go down, and if he was willing to slug with Jackson and Mugabi then he must have a good chin. He KOed both fighters in the first round.

Hagler was never a very big puncher he would definately not KO a non-weight-drained McClellan

McClellan's talent was overshadowed by the fact he was braindamaged in Benn fight. When people think of him they think of this and not his talent, they think that this is what made him known.
