since his retirement from boxing in'99...there has been little said about him..whatever happened to him?

He lives here in Phoenix and I believe he had some trouble with the law a few years ago and did some jail time behind that. He isn't very visible at al around the local boxing scene; his brother's gym apparently is only open sporadically

He was a warrior though. Did he medal in the olympics???

Thats a shame that he got into trouble, I always liked Micheal... I loved that last fight of his when he came from behind (well behind) to beat Arce and then screamed ta the camera ' I'm an Aztec warrior!' ...great stuff!.
What did he get in trouble for?...

He was a 1988 Olympic silver medallist and also 1987 Pan Am Games silver medallist (he beat the cuban but lost in the final).

I believe it was for some "gang-related" activity, if in fact that is true. I know he had some run ins with the law but am not 100% on him going to jail. There is a kind of inside "joke" that the two things he wanted were to be a boxing champ and a gang member and he got both...There was also a recent article in the paper about some problems his brother is facing stemming from ome downright shady activities centered around his divorce and the subsequent murder of his ex-wife and her boyfriend. I'll take a look and see if I have a copy of the article or if one is available and if so I'll post it.
