I read on the ishe smith forum that joey gilbert from the contender will be fighting on the undercard. This looks like a great night, i think i'll go providing the fight between lazy and calzaghe does go ahead. Anyone else thinking of going?

I would love to go, but I want to see the details finalised before taking time off work.

I wouldn't bother taking days off work for it, not with Calzaghe's history of withdrawals.

Does anyone know if Calzaghe himself will be going?

I'll have to wait till the last minute to make sure it's a done deal. If there fighting I'm flying over for it.

I would love to. Does anybody know how much the ringside tickets are? How big is the Excel Arena?

be around 300 quid. but you need them the excel is flat all round the arena was at the last hatton fight there (oliveria), the view is not that great. its also a pain in the arse to get to if its at the excel.

I wouldn't mind going, but won't be buying my tickets far in advance. If the view is poor may just watch it at home.

If it happens, will definitely go. Rather sadly, I am trying to watch all 68 belts fought for live (17 weights classes: IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO) and I don't "have" the IBF super-middle.....

And before anyone else comments, yes, I know it makes me a saddo.

The Excel is absolutely hopeless as a boxing venue unless you're near ringside. I have virtually no memory of any of the fights that were on last time I was there, couldn't see nowt.

It wasn't so bad when Audley fought there of course, cause hardly any fornicator turned up.

What a effing nerd. So Loynsey how far along are you in your quest?! Some of those straweight title fights are going to be a bastard to get to.

Hey imagine if you flew all the way to Indonesia to watch their guy defend his belt, only to find when you got there that he'd be demoted to interim champion or something daft. Or both guys weighed over the limit and the title was no longer on the line. Gutted.

Booking flights, hotels and days off for this fight is a huge gamble in my opinion. In the last 15 months Calzaghe has cancelled 2 fights at next to no notice (Johnson fight twice, Magee the day before the fight - granted not entirely his fault but they knew about that WBO rule the whole time). And this is a huge fight 8 weeks after another fight he is fighting.

Calzaghe picks up injuries when he only trundles out twice a year so being in constant training for 16 weeks with a fight inbetween the chances of him getting hurt have got to be through the roof. And we're talking real injuries here not the back spasms.

Surely they could erect some temporary stands, it can't be beyond the capabilities of a promoter to shell out for someone to come in and build them? Or is the shape of the Arena awkward, never been there.

they do have some but only a few most the seating is flat on the floor.

I've not been there for boxing, but have been for an exhibition. Its just a big flat exhibitiion hall. Not sure about the temporary stands but I doubt they would bother.

Well at the Hatton fight the seats did raise up but only at the very back of the arena, so for a long distance right up to the ring everyone was sitting on ground level. It didn't help that people kept standing on their seats either.

Having said that Calzaghe won't be attracting 12,000 so it should work out for better for the ones that do turn up. Oh but then there's Khan on the bill too..

Kilburn - 35 belts - managed 2 of the straweight blets already: saw Calderon on an undercard in Vegas last year and somewhat surreally there was an IBF straweight fight in Peterboro in 1999 that I went to. I started the quest when I was single, now I am married, it might be a bit more difficult to pick up some of the belts that always seem to be fought for in Japan or Thailand.
