Is Briggs back in the picture?

A result that hasn't been covered on this forum was Briggs 7th Round KO over Mercer. Apparently the fight was dull but the KO was pretty impressive. Looking at Briggs record his KO record has to be respected and he has now notched up seven straight wins (7 KO's) since the McCline fight. He claims to have rededicated himself (11 lbs light than against McCline) and even before this bout was ranked in the top 15 by the WBC.

If Larry Donald can get an eliminator fighter, then can Briggs.

God help us, but I think he's back in the picture.

I heard the KO was dodgy, Briggs held his head with his left hand and cuffed him with a right which completely KO'd Mercer. Didn't look like much of a shot by all accounts.

Briggs needs to shift some weight if he wants to get back in contention. He's been fighting at 260-270 too high.

Looking at Briggs's record the post McClain fights put me in mind of what many accused Witter of Post Judah although Witter moved to more valied fights for valied titles.

I think there is a problem of legitimacy for anyone beaten esspecially in such a convincing manner which briggs was by Lewis as it appears they are only in contension because of the manner of todays HW devisoin.

Maybe if he can beat a top 20 fighter which Mercer aint then he could be in a better position.

Briggs v Audrey?

I thought of that one actually just because both fighters are in need of a name on there records, briggs post McClain and harrison just needs someone people have heard of full stop. I was thinking about the fight actually and it lead me to wonder what the hight difference is between the two (briggs being 6"4), the Boxrec says it is only one inch which would be interesting in terms of being one of the few fighters who can look Harrison in the eye.

some interesting points on the american forum from people who saw the fight sounds as if the KO was dogey and Merca was shot http://www.boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32009

God! surely things aren't that bad!... Biggs has been exposed countless times (dodgey chin, dodgey heart!) and Mercer is an old relic at 44... neither is should be any where close to being a serious contender!.
Come back Lennox!!!...

Briggs vs. Pretenders!

I just think that it is cool of Briggs to keep taking these challenges by all those pretenders out there. Okine and Maddalone, and an old past his prime Mercer. I jsut hope other pretenders keep challenging Briggs every month, and we can see Briggs clobber pretender after pretender.

Maybe Briggs alone can get rid of 8 to 10 of them, in the next year and a half.

Woah!!

i think briggs could fight his way back into the picture for sure, the heavyweight division is pretty weak, and if teddy atlas takes him back, it should help him even more. id liek to see him fight harrison, audley

At least if Briggs gets a shot at Klitschko, for all his faults & short comings, we KNOW he will make an argument out of it, unlike the rest of his victims.

Remember Briggs go at LL? Awesome!!

Would be an interesting one. Thing is, now Briggs has strung a few wins together, Audrey won't touch him with a barge pole. Hate to say it, but I think for his next fight Audrey will be giving us another hand picked (enter expletive of choice here)

I cant rememeber that fight too well but Briggs gave Lewis some trouble for the rounds it lasted.

Here's an interesting, and admittedly ugly, one for you: Briggs-Maskaev. Certainly wouldn't be pretty, and you'd get a PPV audience of 0, but certainly would be an intriguing old school smash up

How about Briggs vs Golota???.......

briggs vs golata.. i just heard that there were talks for golata vs. evander?.. maybe golata will destroy all hope of the former boxers comebacks.

I think Golota would win both those fights as he has been fighting at a far higher level and has arguably been unlucky in his last two tilts. I like golota and think he is one of the best of the current HW contenders.

He'd probably find someway of blowing it though.

True there is always the distinct possibility he will brake down in tears and dig Hollyfild's heart out with a spoon and be disqualified when 6 rounds up in the 11th and with Holly out on his feet
