I know its been discussed at length on other threads, but does anyone else fair that Hatton could do a Hopkins. Remember him, on the crest of a wave after beating Trinidad (just has Hatton has done) and prices himself out of the market only making low key mandatories untill DLH. He missed the boat on Jones, Toney, Calzaghe and host of big names fighting the likes of Haakar and Joppy.

He leaves King on very good terms after the Joppy fights and then spends a further 7th months in the wilderness before DLH and Golden boy promotions come with this idea that suited both Hopkins and Oscar.

I just hope Hatton hasn't overvalued himself so soon after his greatest win, like Bernard did.

Ricky got paid well prior to Zoo, he can make big bucks without big names. He could make huge bucks against Mayweather/Cotto though. There would also be big money in fights with Corrales/Castillo and maybe Khan down the line.

hopkins was right to wait for de la hoya. i doubted whether de la hoya would step up and take the fight, but he did.

hopkins made a fortune against oscar and is surely set up for life. jones, calzaghe and toney were good fights, but didn't have the same amount of money on offer.

hopkins gambled on de la hoya taking the fight and he got it right.

Thats true, it was a huge gamble if that was planned. Do you think he really wanted to have gaps in his career post Daniels of 13 months, 9th months, and 7th months.

6 fights in 3 years he had between feb 2002 and feb 2005.

He could have easily have had Trinidad in that intervieing period, Tito was crying out for match and retired cause of Hopkins' demands were too much.

At the time of the period, DLH hadn't even fought Vargas or rematch with Moseley again. As I said he must have been Uri Geller to predict DLH would have come through those match (one he didn't) with his reputation intact and want to move up again.
