Whats with all of these recent high profile/highly publicised documents about commisions concern with aging champions. I mean its good that such commisions have a concern about the fighters health and well being, but I do have a few questions to ask 1) Shouldn't these concerns be kept private and 2) Why is it only the high profile fighters who have had these concerns.

Check the boxrec database there are plenty of fighters aged 40+ with losing records still allowed to box and no mention of issues. However, in recent months we have had the indefinate suspensions of Holyfield, McCulough and now Sulliman expressing his concern for Roy Jones (saying he will go through a battery of tests). Cannot do alot for Roy's confidence can it.

As I said, its good that the fighters safety is high on peoples thought but perhaps commisions should focus also on the lesser known fighters because if something happens to them in the ring, they will know longer be lesser known fighters.

For instance, Julius Francis is over 40, fat and out of shape, but he turns up to cover up and mug his way to a distance loss against decent opposition. Chances are, if he came to win, he'd get the fornicate kicked out of him.

Holyfield's name is big enough that he could end up in with someone like Peter, and absorb some wicked punishment before getting stopped, which is very risky.

Also, these commissions don't want the responsibility for high profile fighters meeeting their deaths or ending up in a wheelchair, it's bad for them and bad for the sport.

Sad to say, but the deaths of lower profile fighters barely makes the newspapers, if Holyfield or Jones ended up in a coma, there would be hell to pay.
