Can anybody out there help me. I am trying to trace information on a fight in glasgow in the Late twenties or early thirties Involving John (Tiger) Lacey (9st) and Henry Rhea(14st).
On the night of the fight the Lonsdale Belt was in the building as it was placed around my grandmothers waist at the end of the fight.
My grandfather (John Lacey, Born Perth and Later moved to Renton) was asked to fight Rhea in a Dumbarton Boxing booth as Rhea's opponent had failed to turn up. My grandfather won this fight and was asked to Fight Rhea one week later in glasgow. where he again beat Rhea (I believe that it was a knockout on both occassions.
I am also told by my father that Rhea was known as the scottish Carrerra
I am trying to trace the date of the Fight as it recieved good coverage in the Glasgow daily record and I would then be able to search their archives for a copy of the report for my 74yr old father
