This year Basketball Hall of Fame is a sham

Well this is not related to boxing, so if you are a basketball fan would you want to see Dominique Wilkins in the basketball hall of fame? This year he was ignored by the stupid committe bypassing him on the ballot. Wilkins had a big numbers during his nba career. This year basketball hall of fame are mostly too many coaches on the induction and one brazilan woman player who I never heard of was a joke to me and to the fans of the Human Highlight Film.
Like for example if they have Larry Holmes on the first year ballot list on the international boxing hall of fame, if they decided to ignore him they would regret it. But anyway they will elect Larry Holmes to the international boxing hall of fame.

I agree that Wilkens should be in the Basketball HOF, a lot of people might not think so bc he was pretty much one dimensional and he didnt win anything.

Dominique Wilkins was nothing but a scorer who was fun to watch and he never got a ring.

George Gervin didn't got a ring, but he still in the basketball hall of fame why not Dominique Wilkins?

There is no question Nique should be in the Hall, and he probably should have been on the NBA 50 Greatest list when that came out. Some skeptics might say he just scored a lot of points, but there are a lot of guys in the Hall that just scored points like McAdoo, Gervin, and David Thompson. Gervin was a horrible defender as well. Nique, as a small forward, consistently averaged 7 rebounds a game. He rose up in playoff games, and anyone who saw his duel with Larry Bird would not dispute that. He was runnerup to Jordan for scoring titles on four different occasions. Even though he didn't win a championship, he unquestionably was the leader of the franchise and has 26,000+ points. A definite HOF in my book, the "Human Highlight Film" needs to be enshrined.

I'm pretty surprised that Wilkins did not get elected on first try. He was far from just being a scoring machine. During his prime he not only rebounded well, but he had very good numbers in steals, free throw percentage and could hit three's. Far from a one trick pony, but hell in the NBA just being a scoring machine like Wilkins is top notch. His numbers are just as good if not better than players like John Havlicek. Although he didn’t have the championships of a Havlicek, but then again, he never really had any other great players with him as teammates either. Can anyone actually say that players like David Bing, Bob Pettit or a Bob Lanier and a host of others had better careers than Dominique Wilkins…I don’t think so!

I agree that Wilkins is good, you probably saw my post on it, but let's not go overboard. Havlicek and Pettit were far superior. Let's put this in perspective. John Havlicek won eight championships (two without Russell), is one of the Top 10 All-time scorers in the playoffs, made 11 1st or 2nd team All-NBA selections to 5 for Wilkins. He also made many all-defensive teams that Wilkins would never make.
Pettit was part of one of the 2 teams that beat a Russell team in the playoffs. He scored 19 of the Hawks last 21 points and scored 50 to beat the Celtics. He also led the Hawks to a 7th game double-overtime loss in another Finals series against the Celtics, won 4 MVPs, and was All-NBA 1st team for 10 straight years. Not even Larry Bird can make that claim. When Bill Russell was asked to pick his greatest all-time players, he mentioned Pettit.
In my ranking of forwards, Nique makes the Top 20 but Pettit is #4 or 5 and Havlicek is in my Top 10.

There stats are very similar...but I really doubt that Havlicek, or Pettit would have won any championships had they been really the only player on the team. I'm not as familar with Pettit, or basketball before 1965, but I do know that Havlicek was surrounded with talent. Havlicek had a lot longer prime than Wilkins did, but their individual stats are very simillar!

Dominique Wilkins is a name for a man, because his parents agreed to called him by that name when he was born. Actually I read the nba statistic that he made the all nba team 7 times, not 5. There were other great nba players who were denied like Artis Gilmore, Bernard King, Walter Davis, Adrian Dantley, Joe Dumars, Dennis Johnson, Chet Walker, Reggie Theus, and etc. have a lot of accomplishments whether they won as many rings or not. They should make a new rule on the basketball hall of fame like putting half of the nba great players on the nba players side when they inducted and the other half for coaches and international players on the non-nba players side.
Agreed

Wilkins was called the Human Highlight Film with very good reason and he definitely belongs in the HOF. He'll get in soon I'm sure though. I wonder if the NBA has a veterans section like MLB for the guys that don't get in when they should. Speaking of baseball isn't it ridiculous that there has NEVER beena unanimous selection to the Hall?

You beat me to that question, Rory. These guys should PM each other about this, or go to a B-ball website.
