Hatton better steer clear of Judah, because he will get his ass handed to him. I'm a big Hatton fan, i'd be rootin for him, but Judah is to quick and powerfull, combine that with great footwork and Hattons leaky defence and theirs only one outcome, Hatton on his arse.
Hatton should definate'ly fight Massua, he has the WBA belt and it should not be to difficult a nights work.

Won't he get £2.5m a fight against easier comp? King and Warren back together - interesting, Frank must be desperate. Why would King need Warren to make this fight though?
Posted: 12 Sep 2005, 07:47
by MightyWarrior
Because he thought Hatton was tied up with Frank.........
Notice how FW kept leaning over speaking to Don all through the Khan fight - seems he really wants to get back with King for some reason.
Even sat Khan next to Don for the Calzaghe fight - risky move that!
Like Mickey Duff used to say - if you shake hands with King, you better count your rings after.

Warren has a short memory it seems, any association with King will end in tears does he not learn?

I also would steer clear of Judah if I were Hatton. Can't see him winning any which way

I'd give Hatton a reasonable chance against Judah. Judah is far from this invincible fighter a lot are making him out to be.

I'd say at this stage he has too many smarts and too much movement for Hatton (if he chooses to utilise his assets)

Bad style matchup for Hatton in many ways. Judah would be hitting him with a lot of shots. However, be interesting to see how well he would cope with being under constant pressure.

Judahs susceptable to KO artists, pressure fighters he can pick off, give angles and easily land big combinations on, I think Judah would stop Hatton. Hatton doesn't have the sort of power that would blow Judah out the water as an equaliser.
Judah should chase this fight because it owuld be a big profile likely win with good money. Hatton wouldn't fight Judah when he was Judahs mandatory, I doubt he will now they're in different divisions

I really don't see it a clearcut fight in Judah's favour. I cant see Hatton moving up to 147 just yet though when he can still boil down to 140.

Hatton won't be moving up, he's too short and stocky for Welterweight.

Nice money, and no lose in terms of his IBF title at least...for the fans a much more attractive fight than a fight with the WBA "champ" - a man who makes Matt Skelton look like Pernell Whittaker.
Apart from the cash, why does Hatton need the WBA title? It's not like people will suddenly think he's world champ if he wins it - he's already world champ: the WBA bauble is a paper title nothing more.
If fighters make titles, then the WBA title currently ranks alongside the IBO title and all the other trinkets.
RICKY TOLD: £2.5M FOR ZAB FIGHT
By David Anderson, Daily MIRROR UK
RICKY HATTON has been offered a blockbusting £2.5million to fight welterweight king Zab Judah.
allegedly has made the offer in conjunction with US promoter Don King to stop the undefeated IBF light-welterweight champion from walking out on him.
The figures were released last night and Hatton would get a share of the pay-per-view money in addition to his £2.5m purse if he stepped up 4lb to face Judah.
Judah is ranked No.1 in the welterweight division and Hatton's WBU and IBF light-welter titles would not be on the line against the American.
Warren made the offer while insisting Hatton's proposed fight with WBA light-welter champion Carlos Maussa will not happen.
Hatton has called a press conference for today in Manchester to announce he will make the first defence of his IBF title against the Colombian.
Hatton has agreed a one-fight deal with promoter Dennis Hobson worth over £1million and the Maussa showdown is scheduled for the Sheffield Arena on November 26.
Warren insists he has an agreement to promote Hatton's next three fights and has begun legal action to stop him going his own way. "I'm confident the fight will not happen for various reasons," said Warren.

Hatton is getting £2.8 m to fight Maussa.
Why would he fight Judah for £2.5m

Plus a share of PPV money mind......that could make it very lucrative.
I don't understand though, Judah is going to come down, Hatton move up? What for.
This is his first defence, I don't see the sense in him facing someone as dangerous as Judah in a 1st defence.
I don't think it is going to happen anyhow so it's a moot point.

Is that right? I'm surprised he's getting so much - 2.8 mill for a fight where he's gonna be, what 10-1 favorite?
That's De La Hoya territory.
Agree that the Maussa opportunity is hard to pass up though..

I can assure you that Hatton is getting almost 3 times what is stated in the article.
He wont fight Judah.
And Warren wont win the case, which I doubt will even get into Court.

What PPV money is this? I know it's mentioned in the Article but it wont be on SKY PPV if it Warren and I cant see HBO showing it on PPV as to them Judah is nothing more than an undercarder. I suppose Showtime might show it, theyve shown any amount of crap lately, but PPV for that fight is a bit strong.

Since when? It'sonly another 7 pounds which ain;t much and he walks around anyway with the weight of a cruiser weight. How can you be too stocky for Welterweight?
Anyway Hatton Ko's china chin Judah.

by jamesmcdonnell
A lot of the guys at Welterweight are a lot bigger than Hatton, there's a lot of guys at welter who are basically boiled down middleweights.
Hatton's short reach, stocky frame and lack of 1 punch power would be a serious hindrance in my opinion at Welterweight. It might only be 7 lbs, but that can make a huge difference.
He would be weighing in against guys who weigh 154 come fight night whereas right now he normally is the bigger man on the night, he was bigger than Tszyu come fight night, that would not be the case any more and that could have a big impact.
Hatton might KO Judah, but it wouldn't be with one shot, and he would have to take some back, might stop him late on but it wouldn't be all one way traffic
Posted: 13 Sep 2005, 07:47
by Lenny
Plus Judah is a hell of a lot quicker with both his feet and his punches then anyone Hatton has faced before and imo would hurt Hatton a lot more than Tszyu managed. Hatton could beat Zab, but it wouldn't be by one punch and he'd have to tighten that defence whilst he is chasing Judah around the ring.
I don't like the way Hatton is trying to overtalk Maussa into fooling people that he is a world class champion, esp. after Graham's comments, although that was bound to happen.
