Philly has the best fighters by far, philly fighters are soo good that there are some that u never even heard of bc they were ruined in those notorious sparring wars that Philly is known for. I was at the legendary Blue Horizon on Friday and there is some really good local talent here in Philly...and also

to Raheem Zahir, he's a Philly guy also.

I thought the question pertained to cities only not states, not only are they not from Detriot but they dont even train there.

I'll tell ya what, Philly has the edge in terms of prestige and perceptions.
You can ask that question all around the world and Philadelphia gets the nod as the pinnacle of boxing geographics.

Philly just has such a large quanity of fighters, especially from the first fifty years of the 1900s that few could compare to their numbers, except New York of course! Overall I would say Philadelphia as well!

Philly fighters always seem to have a certain mindset as well. In much the same way as Mexican fighters do. They really seem to have been born to fight.

Philadelphia has more all time greats and world class fighters than any city in the globe.
Just to mention champions like Joe Frazier, Meldrick Taylor, Bernard Hopkins, Jeff Chandler, Tommy Loughran, Philadelphia Jack O'Brien, Matthew Saad Muhammad, and great contenders like Gil Turner, Willie Monroe, Bobby Watts, Bennie Briscoe, and many others that I cannot remember because they were many, it's IMPOSSIBLE to see a city that tops Philly.

Yeah, probably the only other city that comes close to Philly is NewYork... but Philly is the main man... too many greats to list!...

Im proud to love boxing and also be from Philly 8) , for this to be a fight town there isnt much talk about boxing here as it use to be, people here mainly talk about the Eagles. I mean you still get a good card at the Blue every month but for all of the history that boxing in philly has it seems to be dieing a little.

What about the greatest heavyweight of all time.
Joe Louis.
No one that came out of Philly was even close to his greatness.

Toney and Byrd are.
I don't care what they're listed as they came from here.

As a Mexican I have to say Philadelphia is the pinnacle of boxing geographics in the U.S. More so than Detroit. Philadelphia has always had at least one great fighter in the last 4 decades. So my vote goes to Philadelphia. Although currently i'd have to say Detroit has a few greats.

Do you always stoop to insults when your views on the world are challenged?. You can't have much confidence in them......

Ofcourse great fighters have come out of Detroit but more have come out of Philly... far more... you only need to go through the lists of champions to see that.
After Philly I'd put NewYork.

Byrd did not grow up nor train in the Detroit school of boxing.
He was born and started his career in the city of Flint. Same state, different place.
Toney on the other hand did not grow up in Detroit but learned boxing in Detroit gyms, thus you could call him a Detroit fighter.
