Elcock v Dann

Looks a good one coming up this weekend, just about 50/50 as far as I can tell.

Who wins?

I'm going for Dann, most likely by stoppage.

I can see Elcock outboxing Dann for a fair few rounds, but everytime Dann loads up ready to let his punches go, it's potential knockout time.

Nice to see Michael Grant having his second pro fight on the under card.

Yeah 50/50, Elcock imo has the power to hurt Dann if he wants but obviously Dann carries the bigger threat in that respect. Elcock to stick to trying to keep away and outbox Dann for the first few rounds but to get caught and stopped in the last third.

I remember watching Elcocks 2nd pro fight and thinking shit this lad looks like a banger, hasn't turned out that way.

This seems like a tall order on paper but I wouldn't write the Brummy off against anyone at this level.

Yep it's hard to forget the sight of Wayne draped over the ropes and blinking up at the lights, but................I think he might surprise a few people and win on points.

Not a confident pick, admittedly....

I'm going for a Dan KO anywhere between 3-5rds..... I also think Dann might surprise a few people with his boxing and movement in this fight :TU:

Dann was an ABA champion, so yes, he sould be able to box a bit too. He never seems wild, but always strikes me as the search and destroy types.

Like I said earlier I do fancy Dann to stop Elcock, but Wayne is clearly a step up from Jones and Halder.

How do you guys think Elcock compares to Bendall, who Dann did an excellent number on?

I don't think many would have picked Bendall to beat Elcock. Too easy to hit and doesn't have any gears.

Elcock's a good barometer of whether Dann deserves his Ring number 10 rating. If he's despatched then Dann's shown himself to be a class above good domestic, which Elcock undoubtedly is. Sets him up well.

Really looking forward to this one.

Bendall was very overrated, had picked up a few gift decisions and had beaten Blundell well. I think we can say Elcock is a clear class above.

I also believe in Elcock's power when he wants to use it, but don't think he will want to risk it against someone who hits as hard as Dann does, even if Dann doesn't look to have the best wiskers himself.

I can't make up my mind on this one actually, am glad it's finally happening

Just worth metioning..... Lee Haskins is fighting on the undercard for the vacant commonwealth flyweight belt against Sithembele Kibiti from South Africa. Not seen Kibiti fight, but Lee is turning into a good little fighter and hopefully he can bag a good win here :TU:

Part of me says Dann will blast him inside of 2..... But then I figure Elcock will be expecting that, and will be getting well out of the way.

I've gone from favouring Dann heavily, to a little more unsure. Either way, should be entertaining, I'm certainly looking forward to it.

The Haskins fight is interesting, i heard they have trouble getting him decent sparring due to the lack of low weight fighters. I think this fight will be a good step up as Kibiti looks reasonable.

As for Bendall remember when he fought that Russian midget Filip Bystrikov? Reminds me of the old days of SKY when we were often fed crap matchups (Mark Hobson V Abdul Kaddu anyone?). The Bendall-Bystrikov fight reminded me of Calzaghe-Ashira with a southpaw beating up a game dwarf.

Moses Kinyua has now come over to England to be Lee's full-time sparring partner and also get some fights himself

Overall i'd have to favour Dann, he has been the busier and seems to be improving, Elcock is still a bit of an unknown quantity, maybe he will surprise some of us and be able to outbox Dann for the 12 rounds.

Looking at Dann's record i see he has a stoppage loss earlier in his career, was it a knockout or a cut eye stoppage?

I think it was a stoppage earlier on.
