There are some intersting fights this weakend:

1. Super Middleweight
Lucian Bute (boxrec 18 ) 13(13)-0-0 vs. Kabary Salem (boxrec 37) 23(12)-4-0

Bute is a hot prospect (first profight November 2003) with genuine body punching on a quick route to the world title. Salem is a very decent and fighter with only loses to Calzaghe (UD), Veit (SD), Echols (UD), Harding (UD).

2. Sultan Ibragimov v Friday Ahunanya
You know both, it is good Ibragimov steps it up!

Your thoughts?

Should anyone have the possibility to see those fights, please post a report!

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone, but I doubt anyone in the UK will be getting either of these fights soon.

It's a shame. I've never seen Bute, but his record looks impressive. If he can take Salem in his stride, and perhaps use his power to stop Salem for the first time in his career, he'd surely be looking good for a title shot within a year or two.

Sultan Ibragimov seems to have decent power too, and Ahunanya is a step up for him. There seems to be lot of heavyweights coming through at the moment from Eastern Europe or the fringes of Asia - the Ibragimov cousins, Dimitrenko, Chagaev, Virchis. You'd probably know better than me, but I'd give Dimitrenko the best chance of a world title - a lot of that due to his age.

It would certainly be interesting to see one of this lot to have a shot at the EBU holder sometime soon - the elligable ones at any rate

On saturday Malik Dziarra will fight Denis Inkin on a SES show (Dziarra's promotor, Inkin signed to Universum) in Germany. Very good fight and the loser will probably be out of work.

The card can be seen on the free german channel DSF (same satellite as ARD & ZDF)

Looks a good one too. I'm thinkin Inkin to be the victor

Salem is a messy spoiler. He will lose, but will evade stoppage.

I expect Salem to extend Bute for the first time, Bute looks an exciting prospect on paper with 13 ko's and in reasonable class as well for a novice. No feeling him in here he stopped Jose Spearman who is decent and Christian Cruz who i seem to remember was the mooted opponent for Carl Froch's American debut before he came in too heavy.

Bute won by TKO8 !

Wow wow wow Micky bruv, what a result there. Bute must have some punch on him. No doubt sicknote will be calling him out before long


Also, can anyone reveal what happened in the Ibragimov fight for it to be a TD (after 9) Judging by the scores Ibragimov had a decent lead anyway

Bute seems to be a serious prospect then after becoming the first man to stop the tough Salem, Bute has already compiled an impressive resume and is now 14-0 (14), if he keeps maturing like this then in a short while he could be a legitimate threat to the likes of Lacy, Kessler etc The Super Middleweight division is looking bright

I predicted a Bute Stoppage in 9, so I got good points for that on the prediction league.

Need to see more of Bute but he does look a very promising up and comer.

Universum and Spotlight are at the moment trying to clear up their stables. This will happe throught a series of eliminators. As many as 15 fighters will lose their job in the Hamburg stables.
Tonight cruisers Aleksy Kuziemski (3-0 1ko) and Enad Licina (3-0 2ko) will meet in Prague (fight will be shown live on http://www.boxinglive.tv )

Next wedensday on the all heavy Brewster vs Krasniqi card Valery Chechenev (9-0 7ko) and Bagrat Ohanyan (7-0 5ko) will meet each other.

Other eliminators being planned are Abdualev vs Kotelnik & Weickenmeier vs Menzer.

They should rather make them fight more often and mke them fight abroad, not only in Germany instead of fighting each other imo.

They acquired a lot of talented boxers from eastern countries and it was a good thing, making boxing in europe an interesting sport to watch, not only big title fights.

Kuziemski won the first eliminator on points after 6 rounds, so now Universum leads 1-0 over Spotlight.

There is another eliminator on wedensdays all heavyweight Universum card. 4-0 1ko Alexy Mazikin will meet 9-2-2 Goran Gogic.

Mazikin vs Gogic was postponed to another card.

On the october 22nd Universum card in Halle/Saale there will be at least two new eliminator between Universum & Spotlight boxers. The loser of the fights wont have a contract after the fight. The fights

To continue this vaguely unofficial euro cum undefeated thread, an interesting fight pencilled in on the boxrec schedule (15th Dec, Florida) is Sultan Ibragimov v Lance Whitaker.

Sultan, I tentatively describe as the better of the two cousins, but I'm not sure how he'll fair against Whitaker. ie. what's his chin like? I'm quite surprised at this one, I thought the Ibragimov's handler's were set on a course of undefeated, padded records, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Q to those more qualified - does Ibragimov have a chance of beating Whitaker?

Wow, a great fight and a tough one for Ibragimov...

I do not know how judge Ibragimov chances here, Lance is not a top HW, but he should be rated somewhere around 20th i think and I dont think he is going down the hill yet.

Ibragimov is moving very fast, I hope he won't get spoiled like Maskaev.

Talking of prospects the Polish Cruiserweight Krzysztof Wlodarczyk looks a good up and comer, he is only 24 but already has a 33-1 record with 29 victims falling inside the limit. His only loss was a fifth round techical decision after a head clash.

He has KO'd Rudiger May, Alain Simon, tough guy Ismael Abdoul (who went the distance with Macarinelli) and Vincenzo Rossitto in only his twelfth fight.

Any word on how good he could be? He might burn out quickly having 34 fights in 5 years, talk about keeping busy!

i posted it in another thread, but it is relevant here:

Polisch prospect Dawid Kostecki lost a clear decision to Ismail Abdoul yesterday. The fight was for the WBF LHW belt.

The judges were watching another fight though and awarded Kostecki with an UD. So we have yet another LHW world champion in Poland...

Kostecki is actually a young (24) good fighter with a hard punch, but seems to fold under pressure. I do bealieve he will learn to face adversity though and become a decent top 20 LHW.

Abdoul won the fight by about 3 points margin, no doubt about it.

I expect from Kostecki to fight Abdoul again as he is a good kid and should understand he was given a decision he didn't deserve.

Imail Abdoul is a decent boxer and a very likable guy. He said he didn't lost the fight but he doesn't blame Kostecki for the decision. He praisedWlodarczyk for being the only one to knock him out.
