Apparently Alex Arthur is now a free agent and is considering his options before a proposed return to the ring "November or december time". He does praise Warren for having faith in him but emphasies there will have to be negotiations.

Warren wouldn't be to pleased if Arthur sneaked off and joined Fight Academy would he.

Why would a smaller league fighter move away from Warren. IMO Warren built Arthur up to be a well known fighter and surely has made him some decent pay, despite him been Euro-level standard.

he's not a massive draw though is he.i'd love to see him walk as well though.

I think Arthur is a genuine prospect... he could definately get to fringe world level IMO, possibly win a real title. If he wants a genuine crack at a world title..... history over the last few years suggests he'd be more likely to get it if he went with Hobson and co.

Its called jumping on the bandwagon. Because Rickys done it other fighters are thinking they should do the same thing. Not that I have any sympathy for Warren. I think Arthur should wait and see how things turn out for Ricky as I think things may get ugly for Hatton if Warren gets his way.

Yes I agree, to leave Warren would be a big mistake for Alex Arthur.

He is still the best promoter for the boxer...not always for the public, but we aren`t the ones paying him to look after us

Hatton is in the unique position of being big enough on the world scene to really look after himself..as long as he keeps winning...but when the loss comes then that is where Warren would earn his money.

Yes, I think Arthur may be best advised to take a deep breath before jumping ship, he's one more loss away from obscurity.

I agree, i wouldn't move anywhere if i was Arthur, Warren has always seemed to get him the best fights for each stage of his career in my view. Arthur has always vocally praised Warren after his fights so i would expect him to stay put.

More likely to go to matchroom with Tommy Gilmour surely than fight academy.

I think he will stay put. I cant see them want to lose him.

EDINBURGH boxing ace Alex Arthur is still under contract to promoter allegedly, despite his claims to the contrary.

The European, British and Commonwealth super featherweight champion admitted yesterday that, due to a misunderstanding, he had been prompted to claim that his original fight contract with Warren had expired.


Arthur said: "I had believed in all good faith that I was a free agent but I forgot actually that winning my three titles, European, British and Commonwealth under allegedly's guidance extended Frank's contract with me.

"For example if, as I expect to do, I actually win a world title fight next year this will extend my contract with allegedly further.

"But the fact that I've now discovered that my contract with Frank is still actually in force is no big problem for me as I've already said that allegedly has done a great job for me career-wise.

"Nevertheless I'm glad to clear up the misunderstanding that gave me the impression my contract was due for renewal at the present time."

Meanwhile, allegedly's spokesperson Andy Ayling of Sportsnetwork agreed with triple champion Arthur saying: "We can well understand why Alex might have misunderstood his current contractual position for, in truth, because he has won three titles under allegedly's promotional guidance his contractual position is a complex one due to various options and as Alex has said himself when he wins a world title that will extend his contract with us further.

"However, the bottom line is that Alex Arthur is not a free agent but still contractually bound to allegedly and Sportsnetwork.

"For us it is important to make this clear as Alex Arthur is so talented that we are acutely aware that many rival promoters would love to snap him up and sign him.

"But for them, the bad news is that Alex Arthur is and remains for the foreseeable future a allegedly and Sportsnetwork fighter."

And triple super featherweight champion Arthur also took time out to respond to the blast made by Coatbridge's Ricky Burns, a potential title challenger, in Thursday's Evening News.

"I think Ricky Burns will beat Irishman Kevin O'Hara in a final eliminator for my British title so Burns could well get the chance to put his theories about beating me to the test in the ring," he said.
