Boxing promoter allegedly insisted on Thursday he has paid Ricky Hatton more than £6million as he produced the documents he will use in his court fight to stop the IBF world light-welterweight champion walking out on him.

Warren, who guided Hatton to his world title victory over long-time champion Kostya Tszyu in Mancheser, intends serving an injunction on the fighter to prevent him meeting WBA champion Carlos Maussa in a unification fight for rival promoter Dennis Hobson in Sheffield on October 26.

Warren hopes to convince a judge he has a valid agreement with Hatton for a further three fights.

At a London hotel today, he produced a copy of a pre-bout agreement for Hatton's victory over Ray Oliveira at London's ExCel Centre last December - signed by Hatton and witnessed by Robert Smith, assistant general secretary of the British Boxing Board of Control - which he believes is binding.

He claimed he had only agreed to arrange the fight if Hatton committed himself to another four fights.

Warren contends that by signing the agreement Hatton was agreeing to the terms of a letter he had previously sent him to confirm a verbal agreement for four further fights after Oliveira.

The promoter said: "Kostya Tszyu was the first and there are three more to go."

Hatton's father Ray - also his business manager - has claimed he threw that letter in a bin but Warren said: "It was sent by registered delivery. How can anyone throw a letter that important in the bin?"

Warren claimed the fall-out is "all down to money and greed" as he produced figures which showed he has paid Ricky Hatton and his company Punch Promotions £6,337,315 over the last four years. The breakdown was £593,125 in 2002, £1,783,178 in 2003, £2,419,177 in 2004 and £1,541,835 this year.

"I just can't believe this has now happened as I've never had one cross word with Ricky," Warren added.

That's a heck of a lot of money, didn't think he was getting that much for his WBU defences. I hope his motives for jumping ship are down to wanted success and not for financial reasons.

Now we know how hatton could afford all those cakes. Maybe Ray wants a piece of the cake so they are trying to take warren's cut out and eat the rest of the cake himself :P .

Hope they thought it through, looks like greed so far.

It is indeed a huge amount of cash. But if Hatton, as is being reported, is getting over £2,000,000 for a Maussa fight, is it that much? The bloke is a huge draw. Frank has built him up, and done a fantastic job doing just that, and maybe he's a victim of his own success; Hatton is the hottest property going right now, and he can make money no matter who he deals with. I symapthise with Frank, because he took Ricky to a certain level: The thing is, Hatton, these days, promotes himself. Allegedly is a victim of his own ability. He created a monster.

when your bringing all those punters thru the door u deserve a hefty wedge of it. :TU:

hatton took less money than he could have by accepting the maussa fight. i think he's done it partly for the money, but partly cos he wants full control on his opposition and no more big fights falling thru.

Zab Judah defended Ricky's title 5 times before unsuccessfully attempting to unify against Kostya Tsyzu. He then moved up and fought some filler before going in with Cory Spinks for the Undisputed welterweight title, which he lost. The fight did deserve a rematch, and so he went to Spinks' hometown of St. Louis. The Savvis Center was packed to the rafters for their boy, and the seating is shaped in quite an intimidating way, plus Spinks' entrance with the rapper 'Mystikal' was like 6 minutes long. Judah dominated Spinks and knocked him out late. He got paid £25,000.

He even fought (and won the WBO 140lb title against) Chop Chop Corley - who's record since 2003 (if he wasn't the worst finisher of all time) should read Bailey UD, Judah (lost) SD, Mayweather TKO 3, Cotto KO 3. A very handy resume.

Anyway, the point of all this: Judah has yet to receive a £500,000 payday. :o ...

he could get the maussa fight without a problem but he'd probley put something in the contract were ricky has to feed frank's dog every other day.

and how was the seating shaped in an imtimidating way???did they place the chairs so they spetl out "i'll beat the shit out off you ,zab" :D

Yes, you could of course argue, correctly I think in this case, that Ricky would never have earnt those kind of sums without Warren. I've not seen any fighter in the UK since Naseem earn that kind of money, hell, I don't know if even Benn and Eubank made those kind of figures without Sky TV money.

I've said all along that Hatton has been brilliantly packaged, and I think it's churlish to suggest that his promoter hasn't played a very significant part in making him what he is.

Now of course, I'm sure Warren has also done very nicely out of it, but that's not the point, credit where it's due, Warren has made Hatton fantastically rich off the back of fighting in the main very ordinary fighters.

Just to correct this: it was actually 'Nelly' that Spinks came out with, 'Mystikal' came out with Roy Jones before he disseminated Richard Hall at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indiana (which as it happens was similar in ways to the Savvis Center).

Yes, I did wonder about that. Mystikal is currently doing a lengthy stretch for rape/assault.

He'd probably pay himmore than he's getting off Hobson for the fight though. Anyone know how much Hatton's supposedly getting for this one if it happens?
